Four in a row for the defending champ. Pretty darn impressive! I looked for info online but couldn't seem to find the answer to this question so, Johnny G. (or anyone else who might know), what is the all time WoO win streak record? Yes, I know that Sammy is the only driver to win twice in one day, also very impressive.

Steve Kinser won 9 straight A-features from June 4 to June 14 in 1981 (Lernerville 6-4, Williams Grove 6-5, Lincoln 6-6, Rolling Wheels 6-7, Lebanon Valley 6-9, Weedsport 6-10, Penn National 6-11, Williams Grove 6-12, and Wayne County 6-14), none of which were prelims.
Steve Kinser also won 12 A-features in a row in 1987, but that was back when "prelim" wins didn't count as full victories, and there were a few of those among that streak. Steve DID win 7 straight (including prelims) during that run, and 13 out of 15 (again, including prelims).
Sammy Swindell won 7 straight (including prelims) in 1997, and 6 straight (including prelims) in 1981.
Steve Kinser has won at least 5 straight on 10 different occasions, including 3 times in 1987 alone.
The following drivers have win streaks of at least 4: Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Doug Wolfgang, Mark Kinser, Bobby Davis Jr., Jac Haudenschild, Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz, Jason Meyers, and Daryn Pittman. (Again, this includes "prelims".)

Didn't Steve win 24 of 25 after the Nationals in 1987 (including prelims obviously in those days)?

I'd happily take 4 wins, the points lead and $41,000 in 5 days from the front row.

I remember Sammy going on a tear ofter Kville on the NW swing several years back, but no idea how many wins or consecutive he racked up - perhaps this is the year JG is referencing?

Sammys strteak ended at San Jose if I remember, he hit an inside tire on the berm in turn 4. I loved that place, to watch and shoot and the party at the High Five Pizza after was always a blast....

Sammy's Northwest Tour win streak was indeed the 7 race stretch in 1997.

Yeah including all three nights at Calistoga which sucked balls. Fairly certain Nelligan counts this as some of the happiest 7 days if his life :-)

Sammy was on the pole and leading the Nationals that year as well before Mark Kinser ran over him.

I skipped Calistoga that year and most others, never did see a good race there. I went down to the PAS and Ventura if my fading memory serves me right, loved both those places! Seems I spent those days hanging around with Hoser of the Year, Shawny McDonald, boy I sure don't remember much of those happenings, lol....

Thanks Johnny, and everone else for the info. I guess winning from the front row isn't as impressive as coming from deeper in the field but it's a lot better than starting on the front row and letting someone go around you for the win. I've always enjoyed Ventura too. The track, the setting, etc. I've always considered it the perfect track for midgets but I'd like to be at Ventura for the first ever winged sprint car event there (KWS 410s) in September. Should be interesting to say the least.

The WoO are the only people that don't consider a "prelim" a win! If I won a WoO A main on a Thursday or Friday of a multiple day event, you better damn guarantee that I'm considered a WoO A main event winner!!!
While I'm thinking of it, the same goes for events like the Knoxville Nationals and the Chili Bowl. Even though they didn't win the Saturday night finale, winning your qualifying night can be evenly impressive in my book. Off the top of my head of those 2 events I like that Fred Rahmer, jeff Shepard, Mark Dobmeier, Kyle Larson, Zach Daum, Caleb Armstrong, and Jonathan Beason have overcome the nights field to park it in victory lane at those big events!
do it in the dirt

Typical Sammy fan, always blaming someone else. If you're referring to Mark's record at Knoxville, that would be three time Nationals champion Mark Kinser and single time champion Sammy Swindell.

Yo' clueless, he is NOT referring to Mark's record at Knoxville he is merely educating you on what happened and Mark Kinser ran over Sammy ending both their nights. Nobody was touching Sammy that night under the green but stuff happens, I think it was Don Droud who flipped to cause the red, guess he can be faulted to but I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose, lol....

Yo' Sammy apologist, I remember what happened, I may still even have a VCR copy of the race. Droud flipped, Sammy stopped to avoid him and Mark didn't stop without collecting Sammy. Sammy's comment when asked about the incident was "He's been doing that all year." The original post about Sammy and Mark was another Swindell apologist making an excuse of "Sammy would have won if..." After the race, Swindell nearly ran Lasoski's crew over and then told Karl that if Sammy and Karl teamed up, they'd never lose a race. Swindell is a Hall of Famer and his record speaks for itself, yet at the biggest race in sprint car racing, he doesn't get it done. Sammy had a great year in 1997 but remember that he only won the driver's side of the point championship. Mark missed a handful of races when he was trying to run NASCAR Supertrucks and Karl won the owner's championship with Kelly Kinser filling in when Mark was absent. Kelly even parked the 5m in Victory Lane at least once.

I am clearly confirmed as not a Sammy fan but even I thought the guy would have won a Knoxville Nationals finale by now when I think back 20 or so years. With that period of time behind us all it's pretty safe to say that he is cursed there as in Mario Andretti cursed. With incidents like '97, '98, and the blown tire a few years back as well as probably any number of others I am probably forgetting they guy just isn't meant to win there. What the reason for that is I have no idea but it's something that I believe exists in this case.
