Hey gang, while I was roaming around the pits talking to sprint car teams the other night at Huset's, I couldn't resist stopping for a talk with a stock car guy. His name is Howard Baartman and I think you'll like this story that includes a couple cool videos. http://bit.ly/1ncfJu6

Cool! There's a guy in PA who races 305 sprints, Jim Kennedy, who I believe is around 80 now.

It might surprise some of the fans how many of us older guys are still at it.  I'll be 73  late this season and started in the late '50s.  Another guy in our Super Stock class at one of our regular joints is only a few months younger.  We're still competitive so why not?

But probably the undisputed senior is Larry Damitz, turns 85 this spring and still shows the kids how it's done.  Won a main last Saturday in the Limited Lates.  Two years ago he won two track championships.  Hope I can last that long.

over4t,  Very interesting info.  What is your name and where do you & Larry Damitz.  Wishing you and Larry great results and safe racing this season.  Experience counts !!!!!!

John Helm also runs with the WAR series, and he's 80!

For badger boy, who asked, I'm Terry Lawrence.  Larry and I both mainly run in northern California, although I ran in the Ohio, Indiana, Michigan area for a few years in the '50s and through the '60s.  The old coupes/jalopies then the stock car stuff; LM, Mods, Super Stocks.  My heyday, such as it was, was longer ago than I care to remember but it's still fun.

Certainly wouldn't put myself in Larry's category.  I've run against him for 40+ years and only outran him a couple of times.  He's in his own class as is Floyd Alvis, another West Coast legend.  There's quite a few of the 60+ guys out here.  Must be the California sunshine.

 Thanks for asking.

Wally Pankratz is still racing midgets at 69 years young. I believe Doug Gandy is 69 as well and he runs winged 410s.

Cheers!
