Staying in Newton...what is there to do during the daytime? Is there enough to see/do in Knoxville to fill up 4 days? A little nervous about the law enforcement...is it that bad? Been wanting to come to this race for years, and always heard what a great time it is, aside from the racing of course. Don't plan to get blasted, but now you guys have me worried about having a couple beers during the races. lol. thanks!

There is plenty to do in Knoxville during the week.

If you want to go visit the Iowa Speedway in Newton, I am sure you could kill an hour or so even if they aren't practicing.

You could travel 30 minutes west and go gambling or to the amusement park.

There is plenty to see during the day's at k-ville. The sprint car hall of fame, walk around out back of turn 3-4 and see the teams working, or spend the day out side the track to see all the vendors and such. Also posted above you could go to the Newton track and hang out for awhile, or there is the option of going to Pella and spending some time looking around. Also there is many great place's around the area to eat before the races. Don't forget about the outlaw kart races out at English Creek during the day Wed.-Friday these kids put on one heck of a show. If you plan on having a couple of beers during the races you should maybe think of having a driver, we walk to the track daily and have been confronted many times by plain clothes guys working streets.

last year I walked around (Knoxville) pretty much four days with a beer in my hand I stepped onto plublic property twice and got told twice to throw it out, I was never " really " intoxicated, but, never the less, happy! , I felt the cops were a little firm to thier job but not really overbearing, "It was my mistake" no problem , I had the best time of my life there , Im really going to miss it this year , were going to Tampa in January , so, ill see which is the better of the two, overall prices on stuff in Knoxville was great , and the locals really make you feel welcome to the Nationals! , take in the parade, gocart races, exhibits, pits, hall of fame, dingus, its all good !, just my style!see you in 08 KVILLE!

Yes, there is tons of things to do while in Knoxville. Too many choices and not enough time!

From what I have noticed the past few years, those large plastic coffee mugs are becoming quite popular with the mobile beer drinkers Smile If they can't see em, they can't make you spill em!

The state fair starts Thursday. If you have never been it's must see.

Don't miss the county cattlemen's overfeeding area by the front gate. The pie people over by the SCHOF serve the best desserts on Earth. The auctions and the parade are fun. Fishing, whether it's bucketmouths at Red Rock or white bass in downtown Des Moines is way better than average. Then, of course there is that crowd of sprint car maniacs... good company-r....or shine.
