Here we go again. I thought 360s...sorry 305s were supposed to save everyone money? I will make a prediction that by the year 2018 (maybe even now for some teams), a 305 will cost $40k...and you get to race for $500 to win. This is does not save sprint cars because there will always be teams who will spend the money, even in the face of a claimer rule. Why not purchase one 360 and have a restricted class for them?
This program would have been awesome as well:

The cars would be fast, and maintenance costs reduced.

You can build a good motor in the $7,000-$10,000 range just depends how crazy you want to spend money and if you want to shop around and find some deals or used parts.

You can spend as much as you'd like to on a 305 Racesaver legal engine, but you aren't going to get much more than 50 horsepower over a bare bones $7000 power plant.
The 2nd place finisher at last year's IMCA Racesaver Super Nationals at Eagle Raceway had a $7000 engine and came from quite a ways back in the feature line-up.
People are always, let me repeat that ALWAYS going to try and buy wins. If they'd use that money to learn better set-ups, etc. they be a lot of money ahead.
Just sayin'!
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

I think you are wrong. I would not bet any money on this. You tell me how a engine with strict rules like a $1,600 heads and a wet sump oiling can cost $40,000. Get a catalog out and ad up the price of parts.

Just to help you out. First "motors" are electric. Engines are gas/steam whatever powered but they are not "motors".

Most people race 305 for fun, not for profit or to break even. The same is true of 360 and 410. Very very few car owners make money. A driver only can make some money like 40% of $100 purse is $40.00. Bad thing is even at local tracks some drivers pay car owner to race. Tracks hope a 305 driver may some day decide to run a 410. At best 20 years from now you might have a trophy or so to show your friends.
