I know I have brought this up in the past, and I am not trying to be negative but I am wondering if this is any longer a message board? At one point yesterday there were 12 out of 21 posts on the first page of this message board that were simply threads directed towards the Pennlive site. At what point does it begin to be spam? At what point should these articles be sent to Hosehead himself so that he can get them on his main web site? I found it a bit difficult to weed through these post's yesterday as they dominated the "message" board. Like I said, I am not trying to be negative but just wonder at what point the Pennlive people should start using press releases instead of the message board? It has become a bit redundant in my opinion. (Yes, my opinion, not everyone else's). I am just looking for thoughts on this. I realize I am probably going to get hammered for bringing it up, but I am trying to bring it up in a disucssion type of format. Thoughts anyone?

I would tend to agree that a line should be drawn but it's pretty tough to draw that line. I've thought for years that HH should add a Press Releases forum but it wouldn't be nearly as well read as the main board. They're looking for hits to content - it seems like it's doing well if they're expanding coverage.
However, it would be very tough to define where this line is. If you're going to limit what PennLive can post, then are you going to include driver press releases from BillW, Santa Cruz Interactive, Petersen Media, etc. as well? How about track posts advertising events or other entities such as The Cushion, XSAN or DirtVision advertising webstreams?
I think the PennLive guy does a fantastic job pounding out a lot of original and well-written content but having separate posts for each story does clutter the forum. Maybe a weekly PennLive post that he puts all articles in would be a good balance - allows a place for people to get direct access to that content.
Alternatively, as stated above - make this a true discussion forum and create a separate forum for releases. There won't be near the amount of hits but it would preserve this forum in what I'm assuming to be its original intended format.

I would rather see 12 of 21 topics being about who's attending what events but, I like the Penn Dot stories just fine... :/

Penn Live stories are some of the best posts on here. Keep 'em coming!

Probably because it is a Central "Pennsyltucky" Newpaper.

The posts give me a platform to discuss the local racing scene so, I'm in favor of keeping them coming...

It is a message board for sprint car racing and a way to share news. They are news articles about sprint car racing and they are well written, plus they are positive. Very rare on this board to get all of that. There is always the option to not click on them if you don't like them.
