Ricketts Earns First Victory of Season at Kennedale Speedway Park! Story by Walker Racing Promotions (Debbie’s Racin Pics) Kennedale, Texas | April 2, 2014 – It was a bittersweet Texas night at the dirt track this past weekend when John Ri ...cketts prevailed at the Kennedale Speedway Park to pick up his first win of the season, this just one week after suffering two DNF’s. The Burleson resident and defending IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car champion has already jumped out to an impressive 2014 with two top five’s.
The evening started off with a mediocre heat race run after falling from 1st to finish 3rd. The KSP format with a redraw would land the #5r on the outside pole for the feature event. Coming off of a weekend full of bad luck and bad memories, Ricketts was determined to give his sponsors, fans, and himself a race to remember.
Ricketts shot straight to high side once the green flag dropped and would begin his assault on the field. Pounding down the cushion and running maybe a foot off the wall would be the quick and dominant line all race long. Near the end of the feature more pressure would be put on Ricketts as second and third place would begin hounding the #5r, but luckily would run out of time as John Ricketts would coast his Eagle Chassis across the line first.
“The track was exactly how I like it, bone dry and maybe a foot off the wall! Justin Melton and Jeff Emerson made me really get on the wheel about 3/4 of the way through the Main. It was good side by side racing with guys I trust.” Ricketts said, with enthusiasm concerning his great run.
Ricketts will now leave his fourth event of the 2014 season with four “A” Main Start, one “A” Main victory, two top five’s, and two top ten’s and two DNF’s. Garnering a schedule that consists of 40+ plus races will have the Ricketts Racing camp very busy for the remainder of the season.
