West Burlington, IA – A last second change in schedule by 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA brought big benefits for Jac Haudenschild and the Destiny Motorsports #9w team. After putting on quite the show at 81 Speedway the night before, Haudenschild and the team caught the good fortune of the raceway rescheduling their Saturday night Sprint Invader program to Sunday and “The Wild Child” rewarded the fans and his car owners with another great performance on his way to victory lane in the Rick Rogers owned Kistler powered XXX.
The pill draw slotted Haudenschild on the outside front row of his heat race which turned into an easy win and a spot in the dash for Wooster, OH’s favorite Sprint Car driver. After running fourth in the dash, Haud would stare down a 6th place starting spot following a post-dash redraw. Jac was on the move early, picking off two spots immediately before heavy traffic ensued. The veteran driver picked his spots amongst the slower cars, eventual taking second place by lap 13. With only seven laps remaining, the leader seemed nearly checked out, yet Haud was undaunted. As he gained ground on the point, the leader began struggling with slower cars, giving Jac the opportunity to close the advantage and challenge for the win. With two laps remaining, Haudenschild saw an opening in the high groove and with the leader mired down low, shot around the outside to take the lead and the eventual win.
On the previous evening at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS, Haudenschild was consistently one of, if not the, fastest cars on the track. The pill draw set him to the 9th starting spot for his heat, during which he raced up to 4th. Despite accumulating a lot of position gained points, Haud was relegated to a 16th place starting spot for the feature. With his elbows up, Jac advanced all the way up to 4th before the checkered flag fell. Unfortunately, the track ate up a huge amount of rubber from the tires and the weight loss was significant enough to make the car come in under the minimum weight requirement, disqualifying them from the competition.
“The boys, Scott Benic, they have the car working great and it was fantastic this weekend. 34 Raceway is a great little track and it was a really good deal getting to come here and win this thing. Rick, my car owner, wasn’t able to be here tonight, but we’re happy to win this for him and I’m thankful for the opportunity they’ve given me” said Jac after his win on Sunday night.
