LEE COUNTY SPEEDWAY "Calvin Meyer Benefit"

Sprint Invaders and IMCA Opening Track Points Night for all 5 weekly classes has been moved to Saturday April 5

Friday nights show has been moved to this Saturday April 5 with hot laps at 5:15 and racing at 6:00. The popular Sprint Invaders will make their first of 2 appearances at the Lee County Speedway. IMCA modifieds ($500 to win & $100 to start), stock cars ($300), sport mods ($300), hobby stocks ($225), and sport compacts will open their IMCA track points with draw/redraw in all classes. IMCA National, Reginal, State, and track points will be awarded in those 5 classes.

This show is sponsored by Farmington Tax & Accounting and Armstrong Small Engine Repair featuring Mahindra Tractors. Saturday night we will also have a benefit for Calvin Meyer.

Calvin was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic
Leukemia on March 19, 2014. He was transferred to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Calvin will spend a few months at Barnes to receive five different types of chemother-apy. His hospital stay will be followed by several trips to Barnes for outpatient treatment for this rare cancer that is in his t-cells, lymph nodes, and blood. Calvin, his wife (Annie), and his 2-year old daughter (Ella) live in Warsaw, Illinois. This benefit will help to pay for medical and travel expenses for Calvin’s treatment.

"I've been going to the races with my parents since I was born. I traveled around with three uncles that raced throughout central Illinois as a kid. When I was ten, I started going to the races at Donnellson every week. I went several seasons without ever missing a race. Once I got my drivers license I went to Donnellson, 34 Raceway, and Quincy weekly. The year before I married my wonderful wife we went to 107 races at 22 tracks in one season. My favorite driver who is also my best friend is Jim Gillenwater in the #10 Modified. I help him on his car when I can and when we aren't racing were fishin catfish tournaments throughout the midwest. This is Jims farewell season. Jim is donating his winnings to five different causes this year. One sponsor, St. Louis Gear, is donating to St. Judes Children's Research. Another sponsor, Conn Communications, is donating to the International Polio Rotary Association. Midwest coins is donating to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America. Pit Lane with Dave Jones is donating winnings to Keokuk Athletic Boosters. Jim is also donating his portion to the American Lung Association. It's good to call him a friend", says Calvin Meyer. There is also a Bar Crawl on Saturday night that the racers and fans can catch up with after the races. Calvin's wife Annie Meyer wil be in attendance on Saturday night.
