Hey PA Posse fans,

I'm looking to book some holidays sometime in August in PA for the sole purpose of watching some great sprint car action and would love to hear some feedback as to where and when would be the best time and tracks to attend. I'm not familiar with the area at all, therefore would appreciate hearing from anyone about what would be the best option to catch the best/most races in potentialy a 2 week period. My preference is winged sprints on small bullring tracks, but obviously just plain good racing trumps that. I'm located in central Canada about an hour from the Canada/US border, and frequent the bullring at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND.(a true action track!) where we catch the WoO shows every year. I know there's supposed to be some awesome racing in your area and have convinced my wife to take a trip down this summer and take some in (a dream come true!), so any and all advice is truly appreciated!

Cheers

If I were an outsider coming in, I would pick to come the weekend of the 15.  That night would be the twin 20 at the grove which is usually a dang good show.  But on august 29, they are gonna try running an Australian format there.  on Saturdays it pretty much your choice, port royal(1/2 mile), Lincoln(3/8) mile I believe.  All running regular shows except for the 16 at Lincoln, I do believe the ARDC midgets are in.  Not a bad seat in either of the tracks.

Lincoln is a MUST see for you. Small racy track with good quality cars and car counts. My favorite!!

Your literally picking the worst month of the racing season to visit Posseland...With that said, Williamsgrove/Trail Way/Path Valley on Friday and Lincoln/Port RoyalSelinsgrove on Saturday are your options...

Hope this helps... :/

Opinions may vary...

During the month of August?  Either the 1st or last weekend in my opinion.

1st weekend (Aug 1st & 2nd) - 410's & Riselone 360 Nationals at the Grove & the Dream Race at Port on Saturday.

Last weekend (Aug 29th - Sept 1st) Friday at the Grove Jack Gunn Memorial for 410's.  Saturday is opening night of the Juniata County Fair at Port Royal.   Sunday is the Billy Kimmel Memorial at the Grove & Monday at 1PM is the Labor Day Classic at Port.

Happy choosing!

Central PA there are 5 real good tracks.

Williams Grove - Like others have said, they run Friday nights.  410's and 358's.  You have to go here just to say you've been.  Racing is usually ok for the 410's, but for the 358's it gets real strung out.

Trailway - 1/3 mile bull ring, fun racy track.  Mostly 358's micro sprints etc.  Run on Friday nights

Lincoln - 3/8 mile track.  Probably the best racing night in and night out you'll see.  Not knocking any of the other tracks, but Lincoln puts on a good show 95% of the time.

Port Royal - 1/2 mile track.  Really nice facility as far as a fan goes.  I dare say it's as nice if not nicer than the Grove.  I have only been there once being it is such a far drive for me, but they put on a good show when I went.  I also went during the fair week.  My daughter had a blast.  I would say the facility is nicer than Williams Grove.  The concession options were awesome given it was fair week, but I have no idea what it's like during other weeks.  So if you are going in August you might also consider early September if you can being they run the Tuscarora 50 at the Fairgrounds that weekend.  http://portroyalspeedway.com/index.php/schedule/

Selinsgrove Speedway - 1/2 mile track.  I've never been.  Supposedly it's a real nice facility from what I hear.  Unfortunately they run Saturdays like Lincoln and Port Royal.  You don't get 410s here too often being Port Royal and Lincoln both have strong 410 divisions, but you get the 360/358 crowd at Selinsgrove.  I need to get up there this year, but that's a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive for me and I know my daughter would want to go so gotta do some planning for that one.

So you have plenty of good options.  If I was you though I would avoid both the weekend of the 1st of August and the 8th of August being you have the Knoxville Nationals going on over in Knoxville.  The best and brightest from the Posse would be there vs back in Pa.  The weekend of the 15th onward would probably make more sense TBH.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks to all of you who replied. I really appreciate al lof the input and info, sounds like there are some really awesome tracks to take in. Unfortunately it also sounds like my timing for a trip down there is not optimal, as i would be looking at the first week in August when Knoxville is running, and the whole point is to catch the best PA has to offer in their own back yard which is something that i have been dreaming of doing for some time!

Looks like i'll try and set something up for next year, so for now thanks again and i look forward to bugging you all again at a later date.

Cheers
