My sprint car watching season finally kicks off this saturday in Burlington  Ia. This brings me to the thought.....  Thank you to all sprint car owners for all that you sacrifice in pursuing your passion !   Im thankful for all of you that give me the ability to watch the cars and drivers that i enjoy so much. All i have invested is a tank of gas and a ticket to enjoy the greatest show on dirt. Good Luck to all of you this summer !!!!

Awesome post. A lot of people do not realize all of the time, effort, and sickening money that is invested into these cars. I sure hope i make a lot of money one day so i can give back to the sport i love as well!

I nominate this for Post of the Year

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

There must be something wrong.  No one has found fault in this post.  Things are looking up.

I would like to thank the promotors for risking their money as well. I also agree with the original post. I thank the people involved every chance I get.    Smile

Ditto to all involved.  Let's not forget the track personnel and safety crews!

I've gotten to know a couple of drivers and their teams pretty well in the past few years and to run a serious schedule requires a considerable investment in time and money.  We can all help our favorite drivers out with t-shirt purchases, or just a $10 or $20 bill at the end of the night to help cover fuel costs.  Or you could sponsor a lap in the main event (I've seen this done several times successfully with a different sponsor for each lap.  Check with the promoter at your track, I bet he'd be tickled to add a few dollars to the winner's purse.)

I know most driver/owners don't do this with the expectation of making money, but purses have not gone up much if at all while costs continue to climb.  There comes a time when an individual can't afford to enjoy the sport any more.  Anything we can do to help wil be appreciated, I'm sure.

As a car owner of 3 Sprint Cars myself, thank you for taking the time to start such a forward thinking message. We do put allot of time, money and sacrafice into our passion, but do keep in mind, that if it wasn't for fans like yourself, we would not be able to do this either. Also the race promoter and all of his family, sponsors, and local authority that helps keep this pure form of racing alive. I personally will think of this post as we field a car in Calistoga with the WoO in a couple of weeks, I hope you are able to tune in and enjoy!

best post ever in the lifetime I have been on this board! Only a car owner realizes Saturday at race start time they have 10-12 hours in working that day for the races to start. From there it is more obvious what goes into it. Sunday, drag the wadded up car out, tear down, start chasing parts, etc. Once or twice a season hand over $15k for a motor refresh, tire costs, etc. It can only be called an addiction because no one would put forth this much work, cost, and sacrifice forth if normal logical decisions are being made! I thank you for your passion to compete! (And likely in some cases forego a 401k!)
