We are in the works of completely redoing RacingFromThePast.com. We would like your input on anything that you would like to see on the site from how it is set up to what should be done. We are looking for some community input so we can create a awesome site. We are also looking for contributors for the site. We would like to give everyone the ability with old auto racing pictures, video's and memories a way to share those with other users.
Please post to this thread if you would like to have any input on how it is rebuilt.

Hey Jeff, how about a thread with all current owners/drivers sending in a photo of their current ride? Maybe a brief explaination of where/who they bought it from. Restoration process. History of when and where it raced in the past. Just a thought. Thanks, Scotty

jeff, this site racin from the past, lets keep it racin from the past. incourage visitors to post old racin stuff, and notices of racers having taken the final lap. i see no need to post driver's and car owners that are currantly racin. lust keep primarily the way it's been. notices of special race venues would be o/k... and keep the old pages on.

I started building Racing From The Past back in 2000. I started it with the idea of just my photos from the late 70's. In the last two years I have not updated the site at all. Jeff Roberg ask if he could take over the site. I agreed to give control to Jeff. We are talking about the main site Racing From The Past not this forum. This forum is part of the HoseHead Forums of which Jeff is the Captain. Jeff has been the server for RFTP from the very beginning. I think the move will be best for the site. I have gotten so busy with the cleaning business and Cans 4 Kansas Honor Flights I just don't have the time a site like this needs. I think with Jeff's knowledge this tranfomation will be a win win for racers and race fans. It could have been like a few other racing sites in the past and just disappeared. It has been on the net for almost 14 years. I think many sites have come and gone in that period.

What we plan on changing on Racingfromthepast.com
Making it a community driven (allowing users to sign up and submit content including photo’s, video’s, stories and comments)
Setting up better categories so the site is easier to navigate.
Making it searchable so users can search by drivers, owners etc...
What we don't plan on changing
The content that is on the site now will be on the new site
Like Warren just said the site has been neglected in the last several years so I am just trying to revive it and make it a more modern site that allows users to share their old racing pictures, video’s, stories and comments on.

Thank you Jeff and Warren, Sounds like a great plan. I found this thread interesting because over four days went by after your request for ideas until I responded with something new to try. Within hours came two responses not wanting any changes. Come on guys, let a few changes be tried. Some of us want this fine site to remain fresh and continue to thrive as it has in the past. We have to focus on any attempt to make it better for future generations. Thanks, Scotty

There are a lot of great stories and photos on here. I am glad that Warren and Jeff want to update it, but please save what is already on the site.
