The Iowa DOT changed the speed limit, not Pleasantville the town.
I've yet to see a cop anytime I've driven on it since the speed limit change.
Obey the speed limit, you won't have any issues (no different than any other road in America).

So this means you have to back off the throttle for what..... five minuets? If someone cant do that, they deserve a ticket. The department of transprtation didnt change that for a towns event a few miles away that lasts less than 1/52nd of a year. I dont know what the reason why they did it, but I suspect they had a need to.

The warning was fine, it was insinuating that it was all about making $$ off race fans that bothers me.....
How is that different than if the DOT changes the speed limit on the interstate from 75 to 65 if the data shows it reduces the # of wrecks or deaths??
BTW - that stretch of road has had a lot of accidents over the past few years and the DOT dtermined that lowering the speed limit may reduce the # of accidents.
Plus the FACT that a posted speed limit of 65 means everyone is driving 75-80 just means that dropping it to 55 means everyoen will be going 65-70 anyway (if people'd obey the speed limits that are posted, they wouldn't have to reduce them).

Bet I think twice about commenting on your comment about thinking twice about him warning people next time.
Seriously this is a speed trap money maker just like all over the country. Law enforcement believe its their right to use the public as an ATM for their budgets. Bullshit but nothing new.
Cheers!

vande77, i must have missed where he said they did this to make money off race fans? all i seen was a friendly warning, after years people are used to the speed limits, they change it in one small area, alot of people don't notice, unless they put orange flag markers on the new signs, if they don't, that is a speed trap, we have a small town around here that constantly raises and lowers the speed limit by 5mph on the south entry to town, personally, i'd like the shoot the person making that call every 6-8 months!

I'm thinking some folks need a tissue for their issue of tissue-thin skin.

It's a state highway, Pleasantville has little if any input on the speed limit there.
I noticed the original posters comments have been removed from this post? Why??

OP said he was gonna remove post. I don't think he got that warm fuzzy feeling from ur response. im sure u meant nothing by it, but u kinda came off sounding like the traffic Nazi.
