I have been out of touch with the changes for this year during the week of Nationals. Last I heard Monday at Osky was going to be a ASCS 360 Show. Will there be a support class or is exclusive?

Also, what is on tap for Tuesday? Will there be no racing this day?

Osky is now a ASCS race, as of just last year, I dont believe anything is on the plate for Tuesday, so racewise, there isnt anything this year, the wingless USAC  cars have a conflicting date or return closer to home type status for Tuesday? im not 100% sure, id have to research it, im just speaking from tounge and cheek, I do believe they would be the support cars for the 360 show/aka Monday,  a few of us on here presented the intrest in the midgets running and again i believe they are in Belville the prior (our360 weekend), im not 100% sure what would make a attraction, and if it was a door/stock car event i wouldnt go personally. 10 years ago maybe ,but, not today, they dont intrest me a whole lot anymore, thier proubly the most avalible to put on a show during this week,

So? is the State Fair worthy of attending? anybody? whats everyone else have planned for the down time?

The State Fair is worth attending, but it doesn't begin until Thursday of the 410 Nationals, won't do much for you if there is no racing on Tuesday.

If I remember correctly there was a World of Outlaw or Lucas Oil Late Model show in eastern Iowa scheduled for Tuesday though.

A day of rest and relaxation! Friday and Saturday at the Ironman 55, Sunday at the Cappy Classic, rest on Monday and Tuesday, then the best 4 nights of the year, the Nationals!

You could go old school and go to the Mrs Knoxville Nationals Queen Padgent. That's what we used to do.

The Tuesday night nonwing deal was dropped at OSKY because USAC and McCarl got together and decided that a 1 night midweek show that far away from Indiana wasn't the best situation for the USAC teams...If the nonwing teams could have found a way to get to race 2 or 3 nights while they were in that part of the country it probably would have continued. To me it's a bummer because every time I have been up there for nationals week the nonwing Osky race ended up being my favorite of the whole week.

Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

About 10 miles south of town headed towards Chariton you will see a road (g76) towards Melcher Dallas. Take that road about two and a half miles and the English Creek Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals will be taking place. These are the same cars  and place where Kyle Larson was first discovered by Parker Store. Great racing for a very cheap price. If you're not busy Tuesday night, come check it out.

SAY WHAT!!   Checkered48 you stated that the 4 nights of the Knoxville Nationals is the best 4 nights of the year?????  You were kidding I hope.  I'll admitt its a spectacle and great fun but the racing is so- so at best.  I attend 100 sprint car races a year and the NATL'S dosent rate in top ten races for the year, Sorry dude just the facts.

If it's anything like Cycle Land Speedway near Chico, I'm looking forward to seeing it.  Miss being able to see the outlaw karts the week of Gold Cup.  First place I saw Brad Sweet & Kyle Larson among others.  (Plus English Creek will be a new track for me--closing in on 350.)

Yes, the best 4 nights of the year! The best drivers in the world all at the same place racing for by far the biggest purse, racing for the most prestgious win of their careers. What more do you want from a race? Last year we saw a guy come from nearly dead last to win with lots of passing throughout the field. I attend 40 plus races a year all over the midwest and I'll take the Nationals everytime!

It is maybe a little bigger with more banking than Cycleland. Who will be the next superstar you will see at English Creek Sppedway? Maybe Dale Earnhardt s granddaughter Karsyn Ellidge? You may have seen her interview Danica during the Daytona 500.  Brad Sweet, Kyle Larson, Rico Abreu, Sean Becker, Mason Moore, Sheldon Haudenshield, Jj Yeley, Kevin  Swindell, Joey Saldana, Paul McMahan, etc have all raced the Outlaw Karts. Also a lot of Knoxville raceway sprintcar drivers as well. I am sure I missed a lot more that have had great success in sprint cars. You dont want to miss it!.

Ya Kno, i just thought of this, but, I believ the HoF had a sprint-pine wood derby last year on Tuesday? , I could be wrong, , I did entertain the thought of building a couple if my niece and nephew were going to be present for the week. , build yourself one and venture to the Dingus afterwords and tell everyone how you kicked everyones ass.the only ones willing to argue with you will be the ones that were present, and if not, heck you still got some form of entertainment out of it .. just a thought.  I believe the proceeds went to a local charity.. win win.

Brad Sweet and Kevin Swindell had some races at Cycleland that were better than some Outlaw shows I've seen....

I think that will be held Wednesday this year.

Last year the entry fee was $10 and 1/2 the $$$ went to Big Al's Motorsports Foundation and the other 1/2 went to the Hall of Fame if I remember correctly.

I think all the cars have to be Sprint Car type
