Usac7,

Don't know where you are coming from or how long you are staying but there are many, many things to do both around the track and in the area.

Iowa State Fair in DesMoines

Slideways Karting Center (I'm pretty sure there will be a Kick-IT event there again in 2014 with Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart)

Kick-It (kickball) game on Friday morning featuring drivers, crews and the like.

Parade (Saturday morning)

Queen Contest (Tuesday night)

T-shirt trailers galore

Vendors

Food

Historic Pella is just 15 mintues away

Peace Tree Brewery in downtown Knoxville (they do tours if you contact them) - microbrew

Shopping (if you or the gropu you are with like to do that) in West DesMoines @ Jordan Creek Town Center

Hanging out and meeting people (you never know who you will meet and where people travel from, I've met people from New Zealand, England, South Africa, Austrailia,  Canada and nearly every state in the USA).

The atmosphere is unlike any other event I've ever attended (including the Daytona 500 and numerous Indycar races).  EVERYONE is a SUPERFAN as opposed to some just being there because of what the event is (like the corporate types that attend the Superbowl).

Hope you enjoy your trip!

Don't forget the World Challenge free lunch (Brats & Burgers) in pole barn off of Turn #4 on Tuesday Afternoon. Good chance to meet & mingle with drivers and get your belly full.

The best experience is to Camp at Knoxville, Meet new friends and drivers, talk racing, games, Late night grilling & your favorite beverages outside under the awning after the races. And all of your amenities are a short drive, ride on the free trolley or walk away.

Tune your Radio dial into 92.1 KRLS for all the up to date racing news, accurate local weather and going on's in the area.

Christmas in August....

Absolutly, my favorite time of year, and getting a longer and longer break every year it seems,  we just camp out also just incase we have had a bit too many, tuning into KRLS is almost immediatly after the first eyelid cracks and runs untill the roar of hottlaps, Dirt n your Berr, congratz, glad you could see the Nats in a different view, pardon the pun, it takes alot of effort to resist temptation and quite honestly becomes habit, I dont know you or many on here so i dont know the specifics, but from your post your either enjoying it or you just simply surprized yourself, either way your body will thank you. long and short term,    the Rib Shack is a almost certain stop within minutes of our first arival to town, for sure! We have never been fully capable of counting just how many Pork Tenderloins we consume while there all week, we just make sure we cap our daily quota of one each day, besedes they are enuff to feed a small family, my Favorite is the TownHouse type, located behind the grandstand  near the ticket office, A+! , english creek is cool, Slideways, the kickball game, the parade, pancakes in the morn,Hall of Fame, wondering the pits, souvineer row,Dingus,1/4 scale cars, the Dingus daily events,Sandals,Tacos? sp?, I believe ther eis a winery type deal above Sandals downtown, I missed that walk thro last year, Swamp Fox-Peach tree served there, , These casinos some speek of, Ive been trying to get my Folks to go for a couple years now, My mom enjoys the one arm bandits, any recomendations on closest one, food, room condition ,price, ect? any of you stay at Lake Red Rock?  maybe a little more low key, little more humble or for retired type folk that dont enjoy too much going on, ? or just more quiet and nature type accomidies.. anyway     Have fun All!
