I know there are several injections out there used on the 305 sprint engines? Has anyone tried the Ron's fuel injection "toilet bowl" set ups? What are the pros and cons of this type of setup? Is this what is used on the ASI 305?

I would use what I know would work like a normal FI used on sprint cars. If you feel adventurous try Rons FI but if not satisfied you have spent alot of money on something that would be hard to resale. On a normal sprint car FI all of the injector ports are the same length. On Rons if I remember correct they are on a standard carb type manifold. If so your middle ports are shorter than outside ports which is sort of a drawback. I used to think trying different things than normal would be fun, but the cost of things for a normal person is to much if they do not work.

ASI claims that they machine their own. I can tell you that whatever they are doing, its different from everyone else. Lots of engine builders have tried to make it work and struggle. That leads me to believe ASI does build their own throttle body. I can also tell you that you better have good pieces in the motor because you will have to run about 50 more points of gear to get it to take off and then you are twisting the heck out of it by the end of the straightaway. Not a very good setup overall in my opinion. I would try to spend my money on a good set of Kinsler 305 injectors or Englers. For what you will spend to only find out what I just told you, you could sell your existing injectors and buy a set that works much better for your application than a throttle body. Good luck!

A while back here on Hoseheads the Ron's system came up in discussion. If I remember correctly this system was being used on the Olsen Brothers 305 car out at Burlington. Jayson Ditsworth was the driver. Again, that is if I remember correctly. I was looking into doing the same thing at one point and then a fuel injeciton manifold basically fell into my lap and I abandoned the idea. The Ditsworth car is unbelievably fast for a 305 and if he was in fact running that system then I would venture to say that there is nothing at all wrong with it. I would inquire with the guys who run that program. If there is any information out there I believe that they would have it. Just a thought. If I am wrong however, sorry.

Sometimes I wounder if the current injection setups are feeding too much.

Midpacker give Daryl Saucier at DSR Fuel Systems a call 317-490-3410. He can explain the difference between injectors and the throttle body. He will let you know what is the best way to go for a 305.
