Got a good shot at getting 5 good Modified & LIMITED Modified/Southern Sport Mod races & a practice in over an 8-day stretch starting THIS Saturday between Corpus & Baytown along the Texas coast AND ***having temps over 60 during those 8 days*** (source: weather.com).
So all you have to do is head to south Texas now and get some racing in! Looking at a minimum combined $15,000 to win Modifieds over those 5 races even if you don't chase points and at least a combined $5000 to win for Limited Mods too!
Cold in south Texas pushed the first weekend into a Fri-Sat-Sun deal but now that means more racing in a day's less time. If you're a 'freed-up' dirt track fan or a race-ready Modified or Limited Modified (SSM) team ready for action, head for Corpus NOW!
Still racing tonight (Friday) too but the cold still has a grip even in deep south Texas for one more day. 20-30 degrees below normal there 'today'... BUT... hello **60** tomorrow & **70** on Sunday! Bout time! Monday & Tuesday are off days then a practice at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown on Wednesday night followed by the 3 shows of the 5th annual Texas Spring Nationals -- combined $9000 to win USMTS Mods & $3000 to win Limited Mods.
For those that are doing the whole GCB region and looking ahead to El Paso & Las Cruces, the 10-day forecast shows at least 70 everyday out there. More of a desert climate that way. Cooler nights, warmer, drier days and so far looking great!

They have put an extra $1000 on this! THIS Sunday 2/9 pays $4000 to won so now it's $16,000 over 5 races. The Limited Mods pays $1500 to win on Sunday so $5500 over 5 races for the SSM cars.
Finally feel like we're going to get to race without freezing! Kind of knew all week that it wasn't looking likely for Thursday & Friday but now...they have the forecast up to 64 degrees tomorrow and up to ***74 degrees*** for Sunday! Like someone's flipping a switch on.
Monday may be the best day to hang around Corpus or go down to South Padre Island. Looking at mid 60s with rain moving in late.
Tuesday: Might as well drive up to Houston. They have lowered the temperatures for that day and brought in some more rain. Best day to have it actually....because...
Wednesday: Cool but clear. High in mid-50s at Baytown for practice night. Better then than when the crowd is in the stands -- and I hope we get one in Baytown for a change! :/
Race Nights! Thursday-Saturday...Mid 60s for Highs and upper 40s for lows which means mid 50s at worse when we finish and NO r--- predicted!
Let's go with that!
