I sat next to a couple of guys this past year at the sprintacular at Eldora who said that they had been going to races with each other since they were both 5years old when both of their dad's took them to the races. Sometimes they took their wives sometimes just them but every year they said they would go to about 5-10races together. So it got me thinking, who does everyone usually go to the races with? Your wife, best friend, yourself, meet people at the race track, dad, brother, co worker?
I usually go with a couple different friends and sometimes the wife if i can ever convince her to go.

My dad started taking me when I was just a young boy and then it was my brother and myself going to the races and we did alot of traveling around the mid west just to see some of the tracks we only read about made our first trip to the nationals in 1989. I lost my brother in 2004 to cancer and my wife started going more with me and our 2 boys and now our grandson is starting to go with his dad and grandpa. We make the trip to Knoxville almost every weekend and now my cousin and his wife are seating with us and it couldn`t be better (my cousin more like a brother) share the same maddness for srint cars. I will say for what ever it`s worth I take a little part of my brother to every race I go to.

Personally, I enjoy going by myself. My wife hates the races, and my friends are stick/ball sports fans.
I like the freedom to leave for the races when I want, leave the races when I want, eat what I want, sit where I want, or just get a pit a pit pass and walk around all night.
And the best part is, usually by the end of the evening, I've made some new friends by just chatting with whoever is around me!

My Wife does not care for the races, I think she just went because she thought I would be pissed if she didn't. We came to a great resolution....I don't ask her to go, and in return, she drives me to the track, goes home and picks me up at races end. (20 minutes one way) It is a win, win. I watch the races, she doesn't have to go, and I can enjoy a few adult beverages without the worry of a DUI. I think it works out well for the both of us. I sit in the same place when I go, and just bullshit with those around me. Just like larsonfan, friends have other interests, I have a buddy that comes every now and then, and once in awhile my kid comes, who I turned on to the races at 3. She makes it when she can.
