How many cars were at Knoxville last year? Car count wise, I think the Classic is the biggest sprintcar race in the world now? Awesome racetrack too!

I count 21 drivers that count the USA as their primary residence on that list.
If 21 drivers with a primary residence of Australia made the trek to the USA for the Nationals, I think the car count for the Nationals would be around 120 (most of the Australian drivers @ the Nationals have a primary residence in the USA).
Australians in the 2013 Nationals (but their primary residence is in the USA)
Tatnell
Ian Madsen
Kerry Madsen
Australians that have a primary residence in Australia in the 2013 Nationals
James McFadden
Jamie Veal
Paul Morris
Glen Saville
Glad to see multiple Americans making the trek down under for this event though.

Not sure if you meant this as a crack at the Aussies or just an observation so i wont bite.
But of those Aussies that ran Knoxville only two were driving for US car owners - the other 5 were either self funded or for Aussie owners. (Those 2 being Madsen and McFadden)
Of the 21 yanks coming over for the Classic, from my count i know for 100% certain that 19 of those cars are Australian owned so the drivers have been flown over by Aussies and put in the car.
I'm unsure on Jason Sides and Travis Rilat, so it could be 20 or 21.

Whats up with the audio? It doesnt sound very good. When there is a car on the track it sounds like they suck a mic right next to a sprint car running. When you can hear someone talking the quality is very bad

What's the general idea on purse for this race. Know it's $30k to win, but does it pay back well? How much to start, etc...

not intended as a crach at the Aussies at all.
Yes, I agree with you when it comes to the car owner standpoint, but I would counter with: Why are Aussie owners putting yanks in thier cars instead of Aussies? Are the Aussies not good enough drivers? Are they not sponsor-friendly enough? Do teh promotors give the car owners a "kick-back" by hiring an American??
I can only guess to the answer, but my guess would be that the Americans put more butts in the seats at the tracks, or open up sponsor $$$'s that the Aussie drivers can't.
Unfortunately, that is not the case in America. If I have to choose between an Australian driver (even McFadden or Steven Lines) or an American driver, odds are that the American driver will get the nod (because unless you're Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz or Sammy Swindell, no driver's are putting more butts in the seats or helping you land sponsors by having them drive your car).
I would LOVE to see more Aussie's @ the Nationals, but I know financially that makes ZERO sense for them or for an American car owner currently, so we will continue to only see 4-5 drivers from down under on a yearly basis.
I'd love to see Max Dumesny, Garry Brazier, Steven Lines and the like make the trek, but unless someone here in the states has deep pockets, I doubt we'll ever see them again (it was GREAT seeing Max and Mitchell @ the 50th Nationals, but that's probably a once every 10 years trip and Max will probably retire before it's time to make another one).
