I'm getting a little bored during the offseason so thought I would toss this out for discussion. What kind of effect do you think it would have if a sponsor with really deep pockets came along and doubled or even tripled the purse structure of your favorite racing series or at your local track's weekly events?

The newspapers and television keep telling us that the recession ended a few years ago. I will believe that the recession is over when sponsors start to come forward help sponsor our events. It is hard though to sell sponsorship with dwindeling crowds and the lack of TV. It is a three way partnership looking for a fourth partner.

1. Promoter(s)

2. Car owners/drivers

3. Fans in the stands

looking for the fourth partner, sponsors.

It is an uneasy three way partnership in that it seems that everyone thinks that looking for sponsors is someone elses job unless it is to fund their own team.

bigger purse will bring more racers . bigger purse brings better drivers , sometimes the best depending on the purse amount . there needs to be points money that creates incentive for the racer to chase points ,  ascs pays tow money to its traveling racers ! lack of tow money is what keeps most of the racers home when they would rather be at the track . less than 1/2 of the regular usac-cra racers can travel further than perris due to the high cost of gas or diesel . back in the scra days we had a local banquet , and everyone in the top 20 went home with cash and prizes , im sure most of you remember someone going home with a new shaver engine at every banquet  . scra worked because glen howard cared about all involved  . and more than that , glen gave the racers a voice and actually listened to that voice . now sprint car racing in so-cal is governed by usac and they are NOT here with us . it would be really nice if usac would get involved with the racers and promoters to increase the health of sprint car racing here in so-cal . right now we are watching the health of racing in arizona increase because those involved care ! this is only half the problem , now we need fans in the stands so the promoter can make money .
