Thanks Lance for the link.  Great way to start the New Year off.  Doesn't get any better than Ascot, early 80's, lots of cars and the stands full of gratefull fans.

Thanks for sharing.  What great memories.  I spent a lot of Saturday nights in turn one Ascot.  I usually sat with the Famighetti brothers which was worth the price of admission by itself!  I will always remember how quickly Dean Thompson was on the hammer after being pushed off for his qualifying run.

Tucson Osty, I remember that too.  Seemed he planted the throttle as soon as the engine barked to life and liften after exiting turn 2 after the 2nd lap.  I remember too Dean's last Victory where he was 4th fastest, won the Dash, won the 4th Heat and won the Main from 5th starting spot.  If my memory is correct, he was in the lead by the end of the 1st lap of the Main.  Saw him just before he passed at Tulare and had a great talk with Dean.  My all time favorite sprint car driver.  RIP Dean.
