I would have to say, it's because we're smart enough not to live 3 miles from Eagle Raceway...

Cheer for all drivers?
I went to Lincoln a while back and I didn't hear too many cheers for Fred Rahmer those days. I assume they at least cheered for him while the Outlaws were in town.
It drives me nuts here in the Midwest that people still hate on McCarl when the Outlaws are in town. I understand not wanting to watch the same guy win all the time as Terry dominated the area for a few years. Think what you want about McCarl, but I've never seen a driver better with kids than Terry my entire life.

McCarl, i remember the night at san jose he talked smack to drivers for the same things he participated in that night... So when he gets dqd in cali, like at the gold cup.... i just smile

When Rahmer won at Lincoln this summer when I saw him... amazing amount of boos. I clapped & felt lucky on my 1 lifetime trip to PA I saw the man win. Still do to this day.
PA fans are great because they're passionate about a sport they love. Thousands of people at a weekly race worthy of attending... at numerous tracks... people that were in the parking lot bbq'ing way before the races. Haven't seen that in my home state. Most I talked to in PA were knowledgeable & accurate in their statements. I just get pi*(*^^%* off listening to people ramble on about total, complete garbage at the Devil's Bowl every time I go. "My buddy told me that Sammy was quitting the WoO just to come to the Bowl tonight..." or having no clue who is driving a particular car but acting like you know "I think that's Danny Lodsoskinny from Iowa that runs for Tony Stewart & Karl Kinser in that Ford car deal" when pointing to a local TX car driven by a local TX guy kind of stupid stuff. I get out of the middle of crowds & go sit in the corners to stop the insanity lol. TX people act like it's illegal to show up to ANY sporting event before it's already started, like we're the only people in North America with jobs. UGGGGGGH.
I'm sure PA has its share of bs'ers but I enjoyed the folks I met while in PA. Based on posts & reputation I expected something very different than what I encountered.
I'm looking forward to another PA trip in '14.

I had about the same experience in PA, I don't run into many sprint car fans that can keep up with me even around Knoxville. My family members are who I talk sprint cars with for most of the reasons you just stated.
I was just pointing out that every fan base gets tired of seeing someone dominate and I think for the most part there is really only one driver that none of us like. He is going to remain un-named. (it's not Schatz)
I don't like to hold too much against drivers, a lot of these guys are trying to make a living in a sport where it is nearly impossible to. So trying to jump a start and getting caught or not wanting to sign autographs after a tough loss doesn't really bother me.
I was just referring to the experiences that I have had in the Midwest. A lot of local track fans here don't like Terry and most of the time he has never done anything more than win too many races. More than most drivers, Terry can get very vocal about things, which is in part a lot of the reason I respect him.
Take your kids to see him sometime, then tell me you think he's an asshole.
For the most part, as sprint car fans, I think we in part root for everyone and just like to see a good race. As much as a tire seeing Donny win at Knoxville, what he did this year was worth the price of admission. Would I have rather seen Brownie win, yes, but did I get my money's worth. I sure as hell did.
I was right there with everyone else cheering for Donny when he won his first one and was as heartbroken as anyone else when he wrecked it in turn 1 from the front row before his first Nationals. Just cause I would rather not see him win when I pay for a ticket doesn't mean I dislike him. Used to feel the same way about Kinser, now wouldn't it be great to see him win another Nationals.

i get why pa area fans can come off as annoying... i feel similar about alabama football fans...(ok,you're passionate about something, we get it)
it's kind of the same deal and it's not that anyone is a better fan, sprint car addicts are just more common in the pennsylvania area...
as i type this there isn't anywhere i'd rather be right now than in a parking lot of a dirt track having some beers, pitching cornhole and talking about racing with friends or random strangers who also showed up 3+ hours early because they've been waiting to come to the track since they left the previous week...and that's common practice at any track in pa on a regular fri or sat night...
the blowguts on message boards are not a representation of what 90% of pa area race fans are like...the majority couldn't care less about message boards or a "posse"...they just love dirt track racing and being at the track...like most of us

Well said, the older I get the more I like to see a great race regardless of the winner...with the exception of Knoxville in August!

Because they have terrible memory. A guy spends ten years learning how to drive in his own region. He then spends five years chasing the Outlaws up and down the road. He spends one season in Pa and all of a sudden he is a Posse driver.

PA spint car racing is the ultimate today because the ultimate car and driver raced in PA when sprint car racing started in PA. Period. The mansion we live in today was built by Ray Tilley in Bud Grimm's Ford. We are making this way too complicated.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

thinking .............................. I feel a northern coming but I probably would agree with "the Canduck" that I haven't ever meet a posse fan I liked
they just love & embrace weekly racing & outlaw purse snatching ..................................................... ugh

Not true. I was appalled a few years back when Fast Freddy wrecked at Speedweek in Port Royal, lots of people cheered. Pa. was where I saw my first sprint car race & where I see most of them now, & I dig the enthusiasm. But I don't think any one area can claim "Best fans"
However, Aussies & Kiwis are willing to come halfway across the earth to witness this madness....

Oh, awesome. Another thread begging the California fans (and MSPN) to mock those of us from PA.

PA fans are more than willing to get behind a talented Ozzie driver when he makes his way over.
Darren Mollenoyux (sp?) gained himself quite a fanbase when he made his Speedweek showing.
