Pierce Prepares for Busy Winter of Racing!
Story by Walker Racing Promotions Bridgeport, Texas | December 18, 2013 – Payton Pierce, who just came off an impressive three win, rookie season in 305 sprint cars, now prepares for his busiest year of winter racing yet. The 17 year old Bridgeport native will take on the Tulsa Expo Raceway not once, but twice. As Pierce will receive the opportunity to run both the Speedway Motors Tulsa Shootout and Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals!
Preparations have already began and the micro racing phenomenon known as the Tulsa Shootout, is less than two weeks away. With one “Golden Driller” and three Shootout starts under his belt, Pierce will make his fourth attempt at the prestigious prize this year as he pilots the Starman Racing #11T micro in A-Class Non-Wing and Outlaw Non-Wing. The 29th annual Speedway Motors Tulsa Shootout is a five-day event running from December 31st, 2013 – January 4th, 2013.
The event and opportunity that has everyone talking about Pierce is no micro show, it is in fact the biggest midget race in the world. As this January, Payton Pierce will make his second Chili Bowl Nationals start as he pilots the Bryan Clauson Racing #39P Spike/Esslinger. Being paired with a team full of dirt track racing superstars and having some of the nation’s best equipment underneath him, Pierce looks to strike gold and leap into the national limelight with a great run. The 28th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals will run from January 14th, 2014 – January 18th, 2014.
The entire Payton Pierce Racing fan base, crew, family and Payton himself are extremely excited for what will be an eventful winter. Coming all the way from running outlaw karts through micros to now driving his family owned 305 sprint car, Pierce is starting to realize his dream come true right in front of his eyes. With the opportunity to work with teammates like Bryan Clauson, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Joey Saldana, gaining experience and knowledge with the mighty midgets should not be to hard.
"I'm blessed to have such amazing opportunities to run both the Shootout & the Chili Bowl this year! It's going to be cool to be teammates with guys I've looked up to throughout my career & learn from them! The Lord has opened a great door of opportunity for me to show the talent He has given me!" Pierce said, when discussing his winter plans.
The Tulsa Shootout Saturday night features will be tape delayed and aired the following week on MAVTV on January 11th. The Chili Bowl Saturday night championship feature will also be on MAVTV live on January 18th. Walker Racing Promotions will also be at both events and be providing stories, recaps and updates on how Payton does.
