MWDTA along with the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce are hosting lawn mower drag races, this Saturday, August 4th starting at noon. They will start at the corner of Robinson & third street (in front of IA State Savings bank on the square).

This is a free event and lots of fun to watch, as some of these mowers reach speeds of 50-70 mph! My boys started doing this last year and we have been driving down every other Saturday to Missouri for racing. We are trying to get it started here in Iowa and so the Missouri racers will be joining us for this event!

Below is the MWDTA website and you can check out some photos. I am updating with 2 events today, so there should be many more photos by tommorrow.

If you are in town for the 360 Nationals or coming to Knoxville for Motor Day on the square. There will be old car displays on the square, also, on Saturday...please check out the drag races at noon.

They make the trip to Sumner Missouri every fall for the annual "Goose Festival". They drag race on the street right in front of our hunting camp. We just pull up a lawn chair and a beverage and have a blast. They even use the lite tree.

Yes, that is the same group and we will have the light tree for the Knoxville event on August 4.

My boys raced at Sumner last year. My youngest is now using a sprint car seat on his mower. It looks kind of funny, but he has a very fast mower and a great time racing.

There will also be vintage cars, motorcycles and racecars displayed on the square from 11-4.  The drag racing starts at noon and there will be an exhibition of motorcycle trails riding by a team from Wapello, IA. (not sure of that time)

And for those that like Elvis..Alan Robuck will be putting on an Elvis show.

Good time to be had...

Too bad I'm committed elsewhere
