What the heck happened to all of the daily/weekly/quarterly posts stating that the World Racing Group was going out of business? We were all fooling ourselves if we thought they would be around very long. I miss all of the financial reporting and hard core facts that proved without a shadow of a doubt that they would be bankrupt in no time.

I think the comments in the how much does pittman make article sort of address this... the fees the WoO charges the tracks keeps them afloat. that said, when i was at LaSalle this year, i counted something 10+ WoO officials (i.e. not the local guys wearing WoO shirts but the guys you always see with the WoO). about the same # at King's Royal. at Fremont at the end of the year, there were a lot of Fremont guys who appeared to be WoO officials for the evening, but they were missing some of the guys from earlier in the year... may have just had the wkend off or who knows what. nonetheless, i always wondered what all of those ppl do (you can only have so many scorers, P.R., etc) and how do they get paid. they couldn't get paid too much i wouldn't think. WoO official would be a fun retirement gig (see Working Woody) but some of those dudes were middle aged guys.
I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

Every financial statement had a statement that roughly said, "Giving the debt of this organization and the limited revenue streams, the longitivity of this organization is at risk"
It was not a rumor it was in the financial statements.

Less races, bigger purses and each race should hold more importance. Place more demand on tracks to upgrade the facilitys and make it a decent place for a family's to go and enjoy the show, if they fail dont race there. Honey buckets, polish dogs and warm expensive beer and seats made of rotten wood isn't eveyone's idea of fun. Along with drunks screaming and hollering obscenities and vomitting all over the crowd. Sprint Car races are alot of fun for guys with nothing to lose and just blowing it out and getting crazy but if WRG wants to start making real money they need to work on their fan base and build it for the future with families not just with men forty years old and speed freaks. Just something to consider and keeping it real.

The Ref is kept busy with his many pressing duties as mayor of Sedalia!
