Congrats to Pittman. All season he did what he had to do and kept himself up front. Not easy to do with this group.

i don't know about that, but in top 5 finishes other than first place, pittman creamed donny. yes donny won more, but when each of them wasn't winning, pitman earned about 2000 more 2nd-5th place points. that is out performing someone. donny did a heck of a job closing the gap, but to have him cry foul because he got beat is no way for the supposed face of the sport to act. the mark of a true champion is to be just as gracious in defeat and in victory.
to indy and beyond!!

Thank you to the Mod that erased that rambling garbage post from the supposed "dirtlover"
Congrats to the KKR Pittman team, glad to see Kasey's commitment to putting WoO teams on the road pay off with a championship for him finally. I thought Donny's comment was uncalled for but I'm sure it was just the emotion of the moment.

To the effect of "We outperformed them but still didn't win"
I'm not mad about it, just thought it would have looked more stand up to just say congratulations to them.

Well they race with a point structure and he did NOT out perform Pittman. Not too surprised about his sour grapes comment.

I'm with you on that. Pittman performed from day one as you can tell by him being the onlg point leader this year. no matter how many races, Nationals or championships Schatz wins he is still an A**hole, just look how he treats the fans.

Maybe its time to revamp the system with more emphasis on racing. Better yet just run the Trophy Cup format.

Better yet when the BABY signed the Platinum agreement he should have FULLY understood what it took to win a championship instead of crying when he didn't get the job done. Everybody can piss and moan all you want Schatz got outperformed and the end results prove if.

Congratulations to Daryn Pittman and he will make a good spokesman for sprint car racing.Consistency is part of points racing and his team did a good job . Kinser,Schatz,Saldana,Dollansky,Swindell are all great drivers but lack some in the personality department. I like guys like Jack Hewitt that told it like it was and was still entertaining.Fans love a winner until he wins too much and then their admission fee of $25 allows them to be an expert and a critic. The WOO still needs to take some lessons from Nascar,Monster Trucks,MotoX and Indy Cars which all are televised and their drivers are household names.Ask any little kid about who drives the Grave Digger or the #88 cup car and they will know .Ask about the 15 STP car and most wont.

The point system was the same from the first race to the last!! The 9 car did get the most points from day one. Some may not like it, but it is what it is until the WoO change it. Every team and drive knew what the point system was going into the season. Sooo if the 15 car would have timed better during the season, they may have had a better chance to win the thing!! Congrats to the 9 team!!!! Its never ez to win the WoO championship, and never will be, and its not the first time its been won by a driver that didnt win the most races!!

As Darnall pointed out on another thread, Mr. Schatz may have a short memory. Joey Saldana won 21 races with that same team a few years ago and didn't win the title despite totally outperforming Schatz..... What does around comes around.

Agreed, I hadn't thought about the Saldana situation in the context of this but its a very good point. What I keep thinking about when I hear people saying they don't think the extra qualifying points are fair all of a sudden is in either football or basketball you have a component of those games that you could argue that as well. With field goals and the extra point in football and freethrows in basketball. In a football game that ends 15-14, the losing team scored 2 touchdowns and the winning team never scored an actual touchdown but kicked 5 field goals, the argument can easily be made that the team that scored 2 touchdowns outperformed the other team, but did they, the other team scored more points within the rules of the game therefore they won.
I just thought him saying that last night about outperforming and still losing was uncalled for and I was somewhat surprised cause he had been on Winged Nation a couple weeks back and had a good opinion of "we all know the rules and the point system has been the same all year so I'm not upset at it," so when he said that last night I was abit surprised. But in the end I probably shouldn't have been.

If they're going to change one thing about the point system, it should be that Knoxville and Kings Royal count for more than just show up points. The biggest races of the year should count towards the championship. Of course, if you would have done that, you'd have a different champion.

Make all the IF's and BUT's all you want Schatz lost the championship because he got beat. Schatz did NOT outperform Pittman or you would be the champion. Make all excuses you want it isn't going to change the outcome of the '13 WoO championship.
