just curious to what kind of money it takes to run a full season with the ASCS national tour. Figuring in tire expense fuel etc.

Apparently more than the champion can make by running the schedule without sponsorship help.

Yeah, I was just joking around, I honestly can't answer the question but as I read it, that phrase just came to mind for whatever reason.

well look at it this way ASCS motors cost more and make more hp than most open motors and have low resale value where is the savings here, I give you one even more stupid "2 barrel spec motors" out of one of the big three have approched $30,000. We need 305's like one less shitter at the Trophy Cup, Fans do not understand nor do the care about all these entry classes . Racen is expensive and you can write rule after rule  but in the end we just need open 360's and open 410's. wings! one rule please. what we really need is a taller cage rule and up the weight of all chassis, maybe a halo X or bar to many head injury's in 2013.

We have loosely crunched the numbers before. If you own the trailer and the semi to make it up and down the road you would need roughly a $100k investment in motors, cars, and parts to start out the season. That's thinking two motors and the previously stated $30k each, two complete cars, spares, and a desecnt tire inventory. Every night you fire the car and race it I would think you are spending at least $1,500 in motor, tires, and maintence, that's if you dont tear anything up. No clue on what you would spend in diesel getting up and down the road, plus maintence on truck, trailer, etc. And depending on your rig are you staying in it while you go up and down the road or are you staying in a hotel. They are talking about 70 races next year adding more to fill in the gaps on long trips out west etc. If you already owned everything to go, didn't tear anything up, and someone paid for your gas you would be between $100k and $140k just to put the car on the track every night. And let the arguing begin......

Not going to buy much of a 360 motor for $30,000 these days...
