It seems like every day I am telling somebody about how much openwheel racing they could be watching on a channel they have usually never heard of (MavTV)...so far 6 of my buddies have either gone to dishnetwork or upgraded to a package that lets them get it....and it never fails as soon as I sell somebody on getting the channel I read something that says theres going to be even more cool stuff to watch on there.... I sure hope Vande77 is correct about Knoxvilles weekly shows being on there in 2014...20 nights from Knoxville, 26 nights of Indiana nonwing racing, 6-10 MSRXSS races, a handfull of PowrI midget/micro shows, 2014 Chilibowl, Duquion Battle at the Center, 6-12 ASCS National Tour races, etc etc etc...
Seriously guys, there is all the potential to see no less than 50, and as many as SEVENTY FIVE different short track open wheel races on one channel in one calendar year.... that is nothing short of a dream come true for me and hundreds of thousands of fans across the country. How in the hell can any sprintcar fan justify complaining about ANYTHING regarding MavTVs programming. For people who can not get the channel through their cable provider I understand them being upset, but anybody who actually has access to the channel should be telling everybody they know to get it and should be sending the network thank yous every week for what they are doing for our sport.
And add to that the potential to see World of Outlaw races on CBS sports...Come on guys!!!
Time after time for the last 10-15 years people have bitched and bitched and bitched about all the NASCRAP TV time and no sprintcar programming...even though it's a niche market I have read and heard thousands of "The sport needs TV to grow"..."Somebody needs to be airing this instead of NASCAR now".... "Pinks sucks", "Pimp my Ride sucks", "Tow Truck reality shows suck", "Darrel Waltrip and Larry McReynolds suck", "500 laps and pitstops are boring", "Too many NASCAR shows", "Not enough real racing on TV", "Why can endurocross, F1, Rallycar, offroad trucks, demolition derby, schoolbus racing, truck pulling get on TV but sprintcars can't?"...etc etc....
Now we have what we want....a whole crapload of what we want, and people are still finding ways to complain about it... no wonder message boards are going the way of pen pals and AM radio.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

I'm sure that will come in the next 3-5 years, but as a fan in the stands weekly, I think it'd be $$$ better spent to build completely new bathrooms (need to make the women's restroom the Taj Mahal, new fixtures, HOT water, real bathroom stalls (not painted OSB board), tiled floors and walls, etc.) and to tear down the skate pit and build a new building there with new restrooms as well (make the Skate Pit a multi-use facility for year round use with restrooms, the skating rink and T-shirt vending areas on the main floor, a ballroom with restrooms and outdoor patio on the 2nd floor to rent out for parties and such year round (do not make it an observation area for the racing (too dangerous due to location).
Bathrooms to me are the biggest issue to address for the sake of retaining new attendees (if it's someone's first trip ever to a dirt track and their entire family comes (mom, dad, 2-3 kids), the inevitably use the bathroom at least once during the course of the night). If the women't restroom is outdated, not clean, seems like it belongs in the 1970's or 1980's, not the 2010's, the odds of that family returning to another event goes down (especially since the mom will make the decision on whether or not the kids come back (especially daughters).
Racing in general needs to obtain and RETAIN these people (even if they only come once or twice per year). A jumbotron is nice, but it's an extra. Clean/updated restrooms are an EXPECTATION that every person has when they walk in the gate of any venue (racetracks, arenas for concerts, baseball stadiums, high school sports, youth/rec league sports).

Very good point. It always surprised me that some of the local tracks have nicer/cleaner restrooms than the Sprint Car Capital of the World. Say what you want, it IS a factor for a lot of people/families/girlfriends/wives.

I take it you don't think the new shiny electronic sign out front makes all the difference!

The new sign out front is a little different to me than the scoreboard. it can be used 365 days a year, 24 hours a day for advertising of not just the racetrack, but for other events going on at the fairgrounds (which actually means it should pay for itself by generating revenue in forms of people coming to the facility throughout the year for various events such as the races, MonsterJam, Hairball concert, the Fair, MMA fights, banquets, receptions, parties (someone can rent dyer-hudson hall and promote a fundraiser or Halloween Party by using that sign and every building that gets rented for any event is REVENUE for the facility - if the sign is what brings enough people to those events to make them viable, it's a revenue generator).
The scoreboard at the track is only used the # of days that there is racing going on -- what is that 30-35 days per year??
