"You shoulda been there!" as the saying goes. :-)
It was an outstanding race on a great multiple groove track with Brent Kaeding
starting on the pole and Tim Kaeding in 3rd. TK took 2nd from Evan Suggs on the
start and soon got around BK on lap 4. TK would start to pull a little
lead and there'd be a yellow. There were multiple yellows and 2
reds (no one hurt). So Brent would get another shot at Tim.
Somewhere around lap 20 on another restart, BK pulled even with TK in
turn 2 and TK got it back on the back straight. This wheel to
wheel racing into 1-2 went on for several laps, with BK leading at start-finish on lap 22 and 23 (according to mylaps). TK took it back on lap 24 and held on the rest of the way. They really had a good contest and it wasn't certain
until the checkered flag!
Brandon Wimmer made the pass of Evan Suggs for 3rd on the run to the checkers on
the last lap. Earlier, Shain Matthews had come forward and was
challlenging BK for 2nd in turn 3 when they touched wheels and Shain
flipped over the edge. That was one of the reds. The other
was for Johnny Gray who blew an engine on the back straight and briefly
flashed a fire.
BK won the season King of California championship with Sean Becker 2nd and Willie Croft 3rd.
Great finale to the GSC season!

He is the 2007 King of California Brent Kaeding winning his 13th title!
Kudos to Gary Thomas for doing a great job with the on track interviews! He seems like he has been doing it for years- keep up the great work!
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

It is hard to believe that it was the first time that Gary did the infield mic interviews. Great job. Very smooth with insightful questions.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it! Thanks to Troy, Robbie and John for having the trust in me to do it.
Glad we got to see a heckuva race. TK & BK put on one of the best shows we've seen all year.
Have to give a shout out to Evan Suggs on his first top five with a wing. Congrats to Evan, John, Linda and the gang. Really hoped he could get a podium, but a fourth place finish is pretty darn good with teh kind of competition he had around him.
Also have to mention Shain Matthews on Saturday. Hasn't been in a sprint car for at least a month 1/2 until this weekend and he was on the gas. Hated seeing him get upside down but he put on a great show. Hopefully we'll see Shain at Chico this month.

Gary you have come a long way since I first met you in Hanford back in 2001. I'm sorry I missed you working the infield this weekend, hopefully I get a chance to run into all of you sometime this year.

Gary -- you must be getting old. Seems to me that Evan won the first night of Dirt Cup this year. Your infield announcing was first class. Keep it up!
Are we having fun yet?
