CHASE STOCKON WINS CANYON’S HALL OF FAME CLASSIC

PEORIA, AZ – OCTOBER 27, 2013... After taking the lead from pole-sitter Tracy Hines, Chase Stockon of Elizabethtown, Indiana dominated the Saturday finale of the “13th Annual Hose Advantage Store Hall of Fame Classic.” Co-sanctioned with the USAC National Series, the Canyon Speedway Park victory was the first Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car win of his career. Hines, Justin Grant, R.J. Johnson, and “The Madman” Robert Ballou followed Stockon to the checkered flags.

Piloting the 32-TBI Racing #32 Superior Tank & Trailer DRC, Chase Stockon qualified second out of the thirty cars in attendance and finished second in his heat race. Starting sixth in the main event, the young hard charger slipped by Hines on the second lap. Hitting his marks on the changing track surface, the former MSCS Rookie of the Year added the “Hall of Fame Classic” to his win list. Chase is currently fourth in the National Series and twenty-eighth in CRA points with one heat race victory, one top-10 finish, and 29 feature laps led with USAC/CRA.

For the second night in a row, New Castle, Indiana’s Tracy Hines ran second at Canyon Speedway Park. Driving his #4 Carolina Nut Company / Hansen’s Welding DRC, the veteran driver was eighth fast in time trials and placed fourth in his heat race. In his second USAC/CRA start, Hines ranks sixth in the National Series and twenty-seventh in the CRA point standings. In USAC/CRA action, Tracy has two top-10 finishes and one feature lap led.

Justin Grant of Ione, California scored third in the “Hall of Fame Classic.” Racing the Baldwin Brothers Racing #5 Fox Paving / Kercher Engines Maxim, Grant qualified fifth and ran second to Michael Curtis in his heat race. In his third USAC/CRA appearance, Justin is thirteenth in National points and thirty-first in CRA standings with one top-10 USAC/CRA finish to his credit.

Phoenix, Arizona’s R.J. Johnson earned his first Keizer Wheels / Racing Optics “Hard Charger / Best Passing Job” honors with a fourth place run from fourteenth. Piloting Bobby Martin’s #51 Weiler Farms / Pecon Builders Maxim, the USAC SouthWest point leader was sixteenth fast in time trials and placed third in his heat race. To date, Johnson ranks eleventh in the CRA point chase with one feature win, four heat race victories, five top-10 finishes, and 29 feature laps led.

“The Madman” Robert Ballou of Rocklin, California raced to fifth at Canyon after starting thirteenth. Driving his #12 Indy Race Parts / Maxim Chassis machine, the former Sprint Bandits TnT Champion qualified fifteenth and claimed third in his heat race. In two nights of action, Robert is seventh in the National Series and twenty-ninth in CRA points. Ballou has one heat race victory and two top-10 finishes with USAC/CRA.

Mike Spencer of Temecula, California earned his seventh Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award of the year. Racing Ron Chaffin’s #50 Grubstake Mini Storage / Madera Produce Maxim, the five-time USAC/CRA Champion scored seventh in his heat race, placed second in the semi-main, and claimed fifteenth in the feature after restarting at the back. Currently, Mike is third in the CRA standings with one feature win, five heat race victories, one Keizer Wheels / Racing Optics Hard Charger Award, fifteen top-10 finishes, and 48 feature laps led.

Cottonwood, Arizona’s Michael Curtis scored his first USAC/CRA victory by winning the night’s Extreme Mufflers Heat Race #1. Piloting Kevin Turner and Greg Wheeler’s #11C DAR Racing / JT Engineering Maxim, the SouthWest regular was seventeenth quick in time trials and scored twenty-third in the main event.

“The People’s Champion” Dave Darland of Lincoln, Indiana won the program’s DJ Safety Heat Race #2. Driving the Phillips Motorsports’ #71P Racers Advantage Store / Jockish Flowers DRC, Darland qualified tenth and scored twentieth in the main event. Currently second in USAC National and tied for thirty-fourth in the CRA standings, the veteran driver has two heat race victories, one top-10 finish, and 2 feature laps led with USAC/CRA.

Broken Arrow’s Brady Bacon won the Saldana Racing Products / Circle Track Performance Heat Race #3. Driving the Hoffman Dynamics Inc. #69 Mean Green / Lykins Oil XXX, Bacon was nineteenth fast in time trials and placed eleventh in the feature. Ranking third with USAC National and thirty-seventh with CRA, Brady has twenty feature laps led in USAC/CRA action.

Jon Stanbrough of Avon, Indiana raced to victory in the SBI Fuel Systems / Weld Racing Heat Race #4. Racing Keith Ford’s #73 Berry Pack / King Racing Products Spike, the veteran driver qualified twenty-fourth and scored twelfth in the feature after starting twenty-first. To date, Stanbrough is twelfth in the National standings and ranks forty-third with CRA. In limited USAC/CRA action, he has one Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main win to his credit.

Noblesville, Indiana’s Bryan Clauson slipped by Mike Spencer on the last corner to win the 12-lap Competition Suspension Inc. / Rod End Supply Semi-Main. Piloting the Tony Stewart Racing / Curb-Agajanian owned #20 Chevy Performance Beast, Clauson was fourth fast in time trials, ran fifth in his heat race, and placed seventh in the main event. The USAC National point leader ranks thirteenth with USAC/CRA on the strength of three feature wins, three Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Awards, one heat race victory, six top-10 finishes, and 47 feature laps led.

Starting this Friday, November 1st, the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series will close out their 2013 season with two nights of action at Perris Auto Speedway. "Showtime" Chase Stockon is the real deal.  A great race Saturday night.  Now, on to Perris.  


My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race 
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss 
that ol' gal.
