Lonnie Wheatley, HARTFORD, S.D. (July 27, 2007) – Reigning series champion Chuck Swenson recaptured the American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region points lead by topping Friday night's 25-lap feature at I-90 Speedway.
Swenson had his hands full throughout, fighting off the challenges of Clint Garner to capture his third series win of the year aboard the Fisher-powered K&N Conversions No. X Maxim.
Garner actually battled past Swenson for the lead on the tenth round, only to have the move negated by a caution flag.
Swenson held on the rest of the way to post the win in front of Garner, with Eric Lutz charging from 15th to take the show position. Gregg Bakker advanced from twelfth to claim fourth, with Chad Meyer rounding out the top five.
After entering the night atop the point charts, Lee Grosz finished sixth and fell ten points behind Swenson. Mitch Runge was seventh, with Curt Lund, Jody Rosenboom and Bryan Dobesh completing the top ten.
