Race fans, if your plans are to head to this year's Short Track Nationals (STN), you will certainly want to take in the inaugural Short Track Nationals Open on Wednesday night, October 23.

In addition, the night will kick off in a big way, as the Ralph Henson Memorial sprint feature that was weather-delayed from Sept. 28 will hit the 1/4 mile high banks!

The feature field for the Ralph Henson Memorial event is already set (no new cars allowed to that feature's lineup). Then, a complete show comprising of heats (with passing points) and feature races will take place for the STN Open.

Many of the STN heavy hitters have already indicated they will compete in the STN Open. The event pays $2,500 to win and there is no driver entry fee.

There are two twists to the STN Open.

The first twist:

-If a driver wins the STN Open on Wednesday, and can back up that win by taking the checkers first in the Saturday night STN championship feature (which pays $15,000 to win), that driver will take home an additional $2,500 bonus from Dixon Road U-Pull-It, which makes for total STN weekend haul of $20,000.

The second twist:

-If a driver finishes in the top 4 in the STN Open, they could possibly earn a provisional starting position in the Saturday night STN championship feature (that pays $2,500 to start). The provisional will be offered to the top finishing driver (of the top 4) in the STN Open that does not qualify for the STN championship feature through its traditional qualifying format on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

A fantastic field of cars is expected for the STN Open!

And if that isn't enough, you can 'add on' the Wednesday night event to your 3-day advance grandstand pass for just $10!

Advance 3- and 4-day grandstand passes must be purchased by Monday, October 21 by emailing [email protected] or by phoning the track at 501-455-4567.

Additional ticket and speedway details are located at:

http://i-30speedway.com/shorttracknationals.html

As of Saturday morning, the STN weather forecast is looking excellent, with all for days showing dry conditions and temperatures in the 60's. TWC shows a 0% chance of precip on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; and 10% for Friday.

We hope to see you all at the STN Open kicking off the Short Track Nationals weekend this coming Wednesday night, October 23!

HUGE field of cars already in the pits...appears to be several new entries too including the #59 car to be driven by Kraig Kinser.

Will post total STN Open car count at around 7pm. If you're anywhere in the vicinity, don't miss out on tonight's huge kickoff to STN weekend!
