Tyler Courtney Takes Home the Gold at the OVSCA Sprint Spectacular at The Atomic Speedway
After setting fast time and handily winning his heat race in the fabled Ferkel racing number 0 Caleb Griffith jumped to the early lead in feature event only to have to pull off the race track as the top wing mounts broke making it impossible for him to see out of the racer. Then just a couple laps later Brandy Bower after a very strong performance in her heat race found the wall in turn 3 with a very hard hit ending a great run for the young lady racer. As racing resumed Keith Baxter in the Charlie Brown sprinter also went off the turn 3 banking ending his night as well. As the red flag came out Danny Smith changed a flat tire on his racer causing him to have to restart at the tail of the field. Once the early cautions were out of the way it was game on, Tyler Courtney who was driving the Danny Smith Racing number 8 moved to the front in what was only his second night in a sprint car, as Courtney was setting the pace out in front his car owner Danny Smith was marching through the field and on the last lap made the pass for second making it a DSR top two finish with Ryan Myers, Jack Sodeman and Josh Davis rounding out the top 5.
Fast Time: Caleb Griffith
Heats: Caleb Griffith, Danny Smith, Jack Sodeman and Tyler Courtney
B-Main: Nate Reeser
Feature: Tyler Courtney, Danny Smith, Ryan Myers, Jack Sodeman, Josh Davis, Ryan Broughton, Andre Layfield, Kory Crabtree, Greg Mitchell and Mark Imler
In the Late Model feature Paul Davis and Kenny Howell moved to the early lead but behind them was a absolute dog fight as Greggie Oliver got faster with every lap that he turned on the high banks, then as the lead pair were battling it out Oliver made the move to the lead on lap 18 and set himself apart from the field. As Oliver moved away it was 3 wide in the battle as positions were exchanged multiple times for second back through seventh position. In the end it was Oliver followed by Davis, Howell and Billy Gullion in a stellar performance for the first night out in a brand new racecar.
Fast Time: mark Frazier
Heats: Paul Davis, Kenneth Howell, KC Burdett and Ryan Markham
B-Mains: Jeremy Canada and Matt Robinette
Feature: Greggie Oliver, Paul Davis, Kenneth Howell, Billy Gullion, KC Burdett, Jason Flory, Mark Frazier, Jimmy Cobbs, Mike Wilson and Chris Garnes
In the Modified feature the action was absolutely amazing, with 36 cars signed in it was something just to make the show, and at the drop of the green the show was on. Kenny Johnson working the high side, Chris Stotts working the middle, Rick Hensley working all parts of the race track and action two, three and at times four wide for the entire event, however at the finish it was Johnson with a slight advantage over Stotts and Hensley at the checkered flag.
Heats: Craig Christian, Brian Whiteman, Kenny Johnson and Roy Roush
B-Mains: Dave Pinkerton and Shawn Holiday
Feature: Kenny Johnson, Chris Stotts, Rick Hensley, Craig Christian, Mark Dickson, Shawn Holiday, Brian Whiteman, Greggie Oliver, Adam Colley and Jesse Rupe
In the SportMod feature it was youngster Harley Martin setting the pace over Mar Noel and Mod veteran Rob Stambaugh, Emily Jordan and Phil Colley

Mr. Quinn if you have never been there I think you are in for a treat. It's probably been 12 yrs or so since I've been there.
