Salfordville, PA – Coming into this past weekend at Williams Grove Speedway, “Fast” Freddie Rahmer had everything on his resume’ that a Central PA Sprint Car driver could ever ask for with one exception: a victory at the Williams Grove Speedway National Open. When the dust settled on Saturday night, Rahmer’s resume’ stood complete after his $50,000 victory in the Rob Sell owned, Don Ott powered #20s Triple X.

For the 7th time in 2013, Fred stood with a big trophy in front of a PA crowd. The 420th career win for the Salfordville, PA driver was arguably the most memorable of his almost 30 year career, as it was the one race he’d wanted to win since he began running Sprint Cars in 1985. After taking the JM Bullion, Aram Trading car to a 8th quick run in qualifying, Rahmer won his heat race and by virtue of the inversion, started outside row one in the dash. After fine tuning the Ott powered Triple X in the dash, “Fast” Freddie started the A Feature in second place and began the process of running down race leader Steve Buckwalter. After trading the lead back and forth for a few times, Rahmer took the point for good on lap 14. Fred stretched his advantage by running through the middle of the track until a red flag for fuel hit on lap 25. When racing resumed, Rahmer once again dominated, leading at times by five to six seconds before taking the $50,000 win.

As he exited the car to an ovation worthy of his hall of fame career, Rahmer was quick to acknowledge his team in front of the record crowd – “The people you’re with can beat you way easier than the people you are racing against. These people who are working with me make all the difference in the world.”

Rahmer and the Sell Racing team want to thank the crew and all their corporate supporters for everything it took to win the 2013 National Open. Those sponsors include Tru-Line Contractors, JM Bullion, Don Ott Racing Engines, Triple X Race Components and many more.
