Abbottstown, PA – The biggest race weekend on the year is here for the Pennsylvania Posse, and local hero Brian Montieth is set to chase his first World of Outlaws victory with momentum coming in from this past weekend. The Phoenixville, PA driver piloted the Jerry Parrish owned, Premier Auto Works, Rider Race Engines powered #21 Triple X to win number seven on the year on Saturday night at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown.
From his pole position, Montieth set a torrid pace in the early stages of the 25 lap A Feature. With a solid time trial effort and a heat race win in the books from earlier in the evening, the crew had the 21 car on point, building a two second advantage on the field before a caution flew at the halfway point of the race. On the ensuing restart, Adam Wilt used a slidejob to take over the lead, and Brian settled into second while hoping to see lapped traffic rear its ugly head. Wilt built himself a full second lead, but by lap twenty, the dreaded lapped cars came into play, and Montieth pounced. With two laps remaining, Brian saw a lane around the outside in turn two and retook the lead from Wilt. From there it was all gravy, as the Premier Auto Works/Auto Locater #21 Triple X cruised to victory lane for the sixth time on the year at Lincoln and seventh time total.
The win punctuated a strong recent run for the team, with three wins over the past month plus and solid momentum coming into the $50,000 to win National Open at Williams Grove Speedway this weekend. This weekend’s victory marked 40 career triumphs at Lincoln for Brian, who is looking to collect the biggest victory of his career this coming weekend.
