I know they are goofy and 10 feet wide but since its at our meca watch this stuff. Great surface, great talent, great engines and a great show. These boys normally have to tip toe on the bottom in a train for a hundred laps but when they have a real race track a few of them can rock and roll.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

i have gone to two of the Late Model Nationals in the past--almost went this year again. I know that track was built for sprint car racing BUT, that track is awesome for Late Models. The two shows I went to out there were two of the best races I have ever been to.

I went to the Thursday show. I was pleased with the racing I saw. It's a bit different, but there is a quality on-track product there.

Far more sprint car races are "freight train" races than late model shows. I like watching both types, as well as midgets and USMTS type modifieds, but the late models generally produce better racing action than sprint cars.

Sprint car fans sould give these guys a chance if you've never seen them. They can lay down laps in the 17's and are sideways with the left front up a lot of the time. Knoxville is really trying to build this into a huge show like the 410 Nationals and I see no reason it can't be.

TV Schedule:
October 3rd 2 pm ET Fox Sports 1 (Directv 219, Dish Network 150) November 10th 6 pm ET NBC Sports (Directv 220, Dish Network 159) November 15th 1 pm ET NBC Sports (Directv 220, Dish Network 159) November 21st 4 pm ET MAVTV (Directv 214, Dish Network 248) November 23rd 7 pm ET MAVTV (Directv 214, Dish Network 248)
It sounds like the local constables had their usual "Welcome to Knoxville" banners up.....reports on other message boards said they were giving out tickets on everything from golf cart violations to public intox to trailer lengths.

That is some good TV coverage, even if it is tape delayed. Three different channels. I wonder who laid out the cash for that: Knoxville, WoO, or sponsors. I wonder if MAVTV is going to become the new motorsports/car channel?

The Knoxville LM Nationals is part of the Lucas Oil tour, and all of those shows are Lucas Oil productions (in fact, they will probably just be the same show with different graphics for the different networks).

Ummmm, if you are drunk in public, golf carts are not licensed, and your trailer is too long, you should get a ticket. Break the law, get a ticket. Why is this so hard to figure out for some people?

MavTV has a few shows to watch...Indiana Sprint cars, some Lucas Sprint shows, whether it is 410 or 360. I am very happy with what they show now, and if thy show more, even better.

Does that mean that murder, theft, and looting will not be allowed during these events also? I may not go back if that is the case.

A tip to eliminate them pesty traffic tickets. Either have a "Governor on Board" bumper sticker on your favorite mode of transportation, or have a cardboard cutout of our beloved governor in your back seat and you will have pretty much a trouble free trip!!

Unless you are a poor sap like myself from Illinois--if you have the governor in the back seat, you are likely to be arrested and sent to prison for harboring a criminal!!!!
Remember--"Illinois--where our Governors make our license plates"

unfortunatly i have conflicts that dont allow me to make it to the LM nationals. i was fortunate enough to make it to a Lucas Oil Late Model show in Webster City. i was really excited to see them, but unfortunatly the track was lane around the bottom so it was a long 50 laps. but i agree every sprint car fan should at least give them a look live, i wish we had a bigger late model base around the upper midwest so i would get a chance to see them 2-3 times a year. i dont think the WoO late models make it anywhere close to my area.
