This was for their LM Nationals...
70 cars were entered, they split the qualifiers into 2 groups, pill numbers 1-35 were in early group, 36-70 were in the late group.
Early group ran ran time trials and 3 heats from its qualifiers, Late group ran time trials and 3 heats from its qualifiers. They used the usual first 1-3 to A, 4 to 6 to B, 7-9 etc
They then mixed them back together for the Mains dependent on points.
Interesting format, I guess trying even out the track conditions.
Kudos for thinking out of the box...

Something like that should be done at any race where the track can change dramatically from the first to the last car out in qualifying. Good to see a track trying to even out those changes in track conditions. Wish more would do that.

I would still rather see two heats with passing points for each car instead of qualifying. Also like the idea of two B mains before the A main.

The bigger story here is the lack of fans in the stands. There isnt 1/2 the people there as there was for the 360 nats finale.
305's are the herpes of sprint cars

TNT sprints used to have 2 heats for each car...if they only had 20 to 25 cars the fans got their moneys worth.
