7AM 9/21/13 EVENT UPDATE: PORT-A-COOL® U.S. NATIONAL DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP REVISED START TIMES FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21!
Lingering inclement weather continued to alter the scheduling plans of the Port-a-Cool® U.S. National Dirt Track Championship at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. After Friday evening’s action was washed out at the .4-mile clay oval, Texas Motor Speedway officials had planned to run a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. CT but those plans were altered due to a stalled front in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
The doubleheader schedule featuring the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, along with Limited Modified and Modified racing, will be compacted with gates opening at 1 p.m. and on-track activity beginning at 2 p.m. For competitors, credentials and the pits will open at 10 a.m.
“Persistent rain hampered our drying efforts so to provide a better track for the drivers and a better show for the fans we are pushing back the start time,” Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track General Manager Cameron Branch said.
Following the completion of the on-track activity that was originally scheduled for Friday evening, the grandstands will be cleared and racing will continue with the second half of the Saturday doubleheader. Gates will reopen at 7 p.m. with the races resuming at 8 p.m. The evening races include the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series heats and culminate with championship races for all three divisions. Fans that purchased tickets for Friday night’s event can utilize that ticket for admission to Saturday afternoon’s activities. General admission for the heats and qualifying action Saturday afternoon will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. General admission for the evening championship action is $25 for adults and $10 for children.
