By the way what happened to the 2w? After a win the night before I expected momentum to be on his side!

The 02 is done for the year after the 141 wreck. The 80k was out this weekend and possibly the year after his 141 wreck as well.

2w started deep in the field and was up to 7th or 8th but caught the wall trying avoid a spun lapper. Overall great night of racing at Cedar Lake.

It was a great night of racing! 28 or 29 410's and 21 360's I believe. Tatnell and Heskin did double duty running in both classes. Fields in both were competive except for the bottom four or five (pretty normal for most events). Good battles up and down the line up and no serious mishaps. Show was over right around 11:00 despite several breaks for track prep which appeared to work out well. Biggest disappointment was Jerry Richert Jr having mechanical difficulty to start the 360 feature and pulling in after the first lap. I'd love to see him win it one of these years.
A big thank you to the Richert family and to Cedar Lake for this event. It's become one of the best one night shows in the central part of the country.

From press release.
The race resumed briefly with Dobmeier again showing the way when misfortune struck Tony Monfefael who spun in turn three. Scott Neitzel, the winner at the Northern Nationals the night before at Superior Speedway, had nowhere to go and clipped the stalled machine of Monfefael also coming to a rest in turn three. Both drivers retired from the contest and an eight lap dash to the finish was in store for the fans.

Much stronger field at Cedar Lake. In the heats there were not many IRA guys in the first 3 rows. Jeremy Schultzs fan base was cheering for Balog to crash. They were surprised to see how mediocre their driver actually is. I guess that's what happens when you go out on the road and actually have to compete against more than 2 good drivers.

So is anyone else getting fast lately? I haven't been to a race lately and I see Balog's not winning currently (due to bad luck it seems?).
And I have a quick question, just looking for some opinions here. What track would you guys rather go to this weekend? Plymouth or Oshkosh? (besed on historical track prep, field quality, ect.) I know Oshkosh is a lot faster so if Balog gets out front it's over. But the racings usually better on a little bullring like Plymouth, but is it too small for the 410's?
And another question, what's your personal favorite track the IRA goes to? I haven't had much of a chance to travel around like I'd like to. I've mainly only seen both beaver dam's, plymouth (mostly 360's), manitowoc (360's/old winged mods), and Oshkosh. I really wanted to get to Wilmont and 141 this year but what else is good? Thanks for any insight.

Okay, thanks for that. I never thought Wilmot looked much good from videos and it's a decent a drive to get there. But someone said it was real fast lol. I'm just wondering what else is out there, or if we have some of the best tracks right around here?

They're pretty much all good when prepared well. Between Oshkosh and Plymouth, it's seems like Plymouth is a little more consistent than Oshkosh. Usually for the IRA shows, the Plymouth track is prepared well. You never know what you'll get with Oshkosh. We've seen it super tacky all night long, and we've seen it so dry/slick that the cars could hardly get on the throttle. Both places make for good racing though.
As far as other tracks go, we've been to LaSalle, Cedar Lake, 141, Charter, Oshkosh, Plymouth, Dodge County Fairgrounds, and Wilmot, and we've seen great racing at all of them. Instead of making a choice of which place you're going to go to, just do what we're gonna do...go to both! lol

He's not winning when he gets out of the IRA "core" tracks. The IRA is a very weak series these days and he has nobody to really to beat. When non-regulars show up, mostly at tracks not local, Balog is just above average. Now that Kertcher and Reinke are out, you may as well not even run at Oshkosh because he'll clean sweep.
