I couldn't tell you about any western tracks but walk thru the pits at A local Indiana track and I'd bet some nites 50% of the drivers are under 20. And if you think the top USAC cars are even remotely lower budget I have some ocean front lots in AZ to sell. Don't get me wrong there some very talented guys running USAC/non wing but I'd guess if you asked them would they prefer to win the Knoxville nats, Kings Royal or a big non wing race I'm thinking the first 2 choices get the most votes.

And I'm thinking that most of them would then glady jump back in their non wing ride with the money in their pocket. I remember Hewitt saying when USAC was fooling around with the idea of running wings and even had a few shows... If that new USAC president thinks we're going to run wings, well he can just get the hell back to Cali where he came from.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Very tempting, BIGFISH!
Riverside notes:
- Clauson was crazy fast... blowing them away in the feature. About a half lap lead under 10 to go & spun in turn 1; some kind of mechanial issue I guess based on ducking in the pits. Had a new right rear on when he came back on track... not sure if that alone was it.
- First time I've been to a track that showed ZERO black groove/rubber down grooves that I can remember. NONE. Track was plenty wide, cushion to the wall, but the bottom didn't really come in. Progressive banking is awesome, too. You can see the top groove by the wall is definitely more banked than below it. Bottom not very banked.
- Saw a couple of drivers dump all their tearoffs in one fell swoop on a night you couldn't do that. Kevin Thomas, Jr. made a mention of it on Twitter. He is one short dude, btw. Saw several helmets sitting in/on the car after the feature with no tearoffs & a completely mudded up visor. I have no idea how they do it with such limited visibility. Maybe they pulled in & I didn't notice. However many tearoffs you had last night... you needed all of them & then some.
- Some spooky divebomb slide jobs; most involved the car being passed grabbing the brakes pretty hard. Darland threw a VERY nasty one at the leader in the feature with no posiblity of clean outcome, they made contact and Clauson swept by both for the 3rd to the lead move. Love Darland but Keaton Dobbs #15k was the leader... felt bad for him. Big impact on his race. He ended up 5th but should have been higher up IMO.
- More of the same: 360s were plenty competitive again. Even a 305 ran alright in a local car.
- Jon Stanbrough towed in for 1 night; wasn't at Little Rock the night before. Haven't seen him before; just as good as I thought he'd be from reading his results & articles. Very entertaining to watch... passed cars & was competitive for the win.
- Riverside is great; big crowd & super facility. I will definitely go back! I can't imagine how fast a WoO 410 would have been on that track last night... ridiculously fast for a little 1/4 like that.
