David Pope picture gallery/Sept. 7 DPM event updates
Crandall, TX (9/4/13) by DarinShort.com. The 2nd Annual David Pope Memorial (DPM) event is this Saturday, September 7th at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas. Whether you knew David, or had never met him, this page will take you back through time to a place that was much more simplified - all the way through modern times. It will give you some background on his commitment and dedication to his family and business; which, in turn, touched the lives of many people throughout the area.
Also, upon your arrival to the speedway on Saturday night, please make sure to pick up a points sheet at the ticket window, which contains a letter from David's wife, Joy. The letter explains how this event came into being, and its goal. The points sheet are free. This event also coincides with the final RPM Speedway points race of 2013.
Please make sure to arrive early on Saturday night, as the schedule is very time-driven, due to the FAA requirements revolving around the skydivers. Plus, it will allow you to take in our secret pre-race activities.
Current weather forecast shows excellent racing conditions, with race time temps of 90 degrees, dropping into the upper 70's throughout the evening.

Here's is the race day schedule:
11AM – PITS OPEN BY 11AM. THERE IS NO REGISTRATION FEE OR ENTRY FEE. ALL PIT PASSES $30. NO RESERVED PIT PARKING. NO SAVING OF PIT SPACES. SPRINTS ARE NOT RACING, ALL SPACES ARE OPEN.
4PM – DRAW IN OPENS (DRIVERS COMPETING IN MORE THAN ONE CLASS MUST PURCHASE PIT PASS FOR EACH DIVISION THEY ARE RACING IN)
5PM – GRANDSTAND OPENS. ADULT TICKETS $12. KIDS 6-12 $5; AGES 5 & UNDER FREE WITH AN ADULT
5:30-7:30PM – Secret Activities Planned - behind the grandstand area
5:45PM – MANDATORY TRACK PACKING (ALL CARS, ALL DIVISIONS)
6:00PM – HOT LAPPING AS SOON AS TRACK IS PACKED (BE READY!)
6:30PM – DRAW CLOSES FOR ALL CLASSES, REMINDER DRIVERS: WORKING RACECEIVERS REQUIRED
6:40PM – QUICK DRIVERS MEETING
6:50PM – ALL DRIVERS EXCEPT 1ST HEAT RACE REPORT TO SPEEDWAY, ENCIRCLE THE WALL AREA AROUND TRACK (ON RACING SURFACE)
6:55PM – INVOCATION
7:00PM SHARP – SKYDIVERS WILL JUMP FROM AN ALTITUDE OF 10,000 FEET. (“SKYDIVE TANDEM” BASED OUT OF GREENVILLE TEXAS)
7:05PM – FIRST TWO RACES IN STAGING; FIRST OF, ROLLING OUT ON TRACK IMMEDIATELY AFTER DRIVERS EXIT SPEEDWAY.
