While standing at the pit entrance last night after the URC feature, Mark Smith's wife and llittle boy were trying to go across the pits to get to him in victory lane.  I found if very disrespectful that the security guard would not let her cross the pit area even with assistance, because she did not have a pit pass for the evening, so she could be with her husband in victory lane.  Then whenever the gates finally had opened, the security guard had the nerve to look at the wife and tell time "next time don't be so cheap, buy a pit pass". I understand there are rules, but to not let the drivers wife and little boy walk 20 yards across the pits to their family was incredibly rude in my opinion.

I have never been to a track where they wouldn't let the driver's wife and kids come down from the stands to get their photo taken in victory lane then go back up to their seats.  Now I think it's safe to say that I've heard it all....  wink

That has been Pinky's policy for several years now. If you want to get to victory lane without a pit pass, you must cross from the front stretch grandstand side.

I see. So you think the rules shouldn't apply to her because, well, that would be rude. Nice.

If it was just a normal fan who wanted their picture taken i would have understood, but from a family who puts a lot of money into their race team and at that track, I think they could have been a little lenient in letting his son and wife, twenty yards into the pits to get to victory lanE.  Then to call them cheap for not buying a pit pass?? Who wants to buy a pit pass with a 2 year old ltitle boy??

I agree that he should not have called her cheap for not purchasing a pit pass...He should have called her lazy for not following fan protocal for finding victory lane by walking through the tunnel to the front stretch...Smile

oh, and what about the first time sprint car fan from alaska attending grays harbor raceway

several years ago, run over and killed by a sprint car in the pits!  guess being in the limelight is far more

important to some!  ...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Before you post stuff like that, think about it.  The races were over.  Nobody was driving in the pit area, everything was calm and quiet.  No URC were in that pit area.  Guess I should have stated that, if there were cars driving around still and cars being pushed onto the track I could understand but everything was done, program was over.
