My last Spring Nationals @ Devils Bowl with the WoO (2000?) it was cool and damp. The cars were so fast going into turn 1 that you couldn't read the graphis on the cars as they went by.....Seriously!

Don't doubt that a bit Hawker. I recently had the same experience sitting in turn 3 at Knoxville. Not while I was sitting in my seat on the back straight, but when I walked down to the bottom of the stands and watched a hot lap session from the top of the staircase. I would bet the speeds are similar. Knoxville has longer straights, but the Bowl has the banking in turn four and the downhill run from turn four. It will be great to experience that same thrill in both places next year!

My measurements were made with Google Earth, which is extremely accurate. Devils Bowl keeps plugging along year after year without a watershed money boost like Knoxville has once a year. With out the nationals, Knoxville would be a 360 track with 4 support classes, just like every other track in the "real world".

There is truth in what you're saying. Interesting that the Bowl used to have a money boost three or four times a year. That pressbox, paved parking lot, and huge grandstand didn't come from running ASCS shows.
Whatever Knoxville has done or is doing at least they've kept sprint car racing alive in that area. Over 70 cars in the pits this last week, and no mods, lates, or stocks to sit through. I wIsh the Bowl could say that.

no matter the speeds, its going to be nice to see them back in the state. The devilsbowl is a historic track. Just hope more tracks in the area pick the outlaws up as well. Sprintcars had no real hope in the state until smiley brought the 305s in. Now there are close to 150 or more cars in the area. Just glad to see them making a comeback period. Thanks to the devilsbowl for bringing back 410s

"Jimmy Boyd, in a non-wing car, wins the series’ inaugural event March 18 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for his only victory in series history".
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

if the show was in March I would definately figurre a way to go, in april, my work starts getting busy, so who knows,
if you have never been to the Bowl and are a sprint car fan, should be on your bucket list, not sure if it makes my top 5 list but certainly close, food burritos some say are great seemed like basic to me

I'd have to see it to believe it.

The last time the WoO was at The Devil's Bowl was March 15, 2003. I have photography with that date stamp.

Wonder if Lanny will promote this or hope just by opening the gates it will sell out. Not sure what the car count will be like for this ,, Texas is 360/305 country..
