First I will tell you that I was for the 50th Anniversary of the Knoxville Nationals to be a 50 lap event.  My hopes were for that night to be something special and stand out in history not to continue it every year. If they want to continue this they should put bigger fuel tanks on and have NO PIT STOPS!    jmo

Have them do two 30 lapper s with a pit stop . And if they do anything other than add fuel and air pressure they go to the back. I would take a 60 lapper that way.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

this has been gone over many times.  You can not race a 50 lap race with a 50 gal  tank.  The 410 cars use about 1 gal per lap.  Knoxville is really about 5/8 th track where most cars run.  A person has no way in the would to know how many yellow flag laps will be run.  Asprint car with a full 50 gal tank might drive like a clown car.  That would be  about 340 lbs of feul in back of car.  The car would be back end heavy.  Can Hoosier make a 50 plus lap tire to run on sprint cars on dirt and have 95% of them last the race?  The purest did not think NASCAR should be able to race at Indy.  They still do.  There is nothing wrong with Knoxville 50,  it is unique and very much so worth watching

Ding ding ding!  We have a winner!  Does anybody have anything else to complain about besides watching extra laps of racing?   It would be like complaining that your wife wants to have too much sex!

Yes, I am old (71) but I still greatly dislike the new format..i.e...a "twin 25" plus a 25th starter.

To me they have polluted The Nationals.

Just my opinion and I think that is what this forum is for..to share opinions.

Was there this year and the racing was great all 4 nights!. I'm no fan of Donnie but what he did was nothing short of fantastic Saturday Night, he could have won it with 30 laps but he never pushed it. Last year all these people who was complaining about 50 laps sure wasn't when Brown ALMOST got past Donnie on get this LAP FIFTY...Smile

Would there be any complaining if Brown would have won?

I'm old but I do remember complaining last year about running 50 laps.  Don't like it one bit.

I'm sure there are many who do like that format but I am opposed to it.

I love the fifty laps. I have no problem with the fuel stop. There are cautions in almost every race. It's the Nationals it should be a longer race. No matter where you start you have a chance to win. I have been told by several people that they can not make thirty laps with the tanks they have on if there is any cautions.

Now the 25th starter I do not agree with. Leave it at 24!!

At first I didnt like the idea, but now its proven to be a better product. Instead of just another usual main event it now sets itself apart from the rest. No other sprint car race anywhere has two halves. The first sets you up and positions you for the remainder of the race. Its a great once a year program. Not like the usual races across the country that nearly guarantee the winner form the first three rows, and more often the front row. Longer races give the cars in the back a possible chance to come to the front and actually stay there with a tire change. Do you really think nascar would be popular with a 25-40 lap race with no pit stops to adjust their cars ?

If they can run 35 laps without refueling, they need to wait that long to stop the race without a yellow created by track action.  A yellow in lap 25-32, then stopping for fuel, would not detract from the competition on the track.  I would much prefer a race that any starter could possibly win, not just the first couple of rows.  Keep the 50 but wait to stop for fuel.

Sprintcars are built to race short distances, the bigger the track the shorter the distance they should run,30 laps is plenty for the nationals, pit stops are not needed, but i do understand promoters trying to add drama to these races and lengthen the races to create more entertainment for the fans and also trying to sell more beer and soda and food, its all about the dollars at the end of the day, just my take.

Amazing, make it 50 or 100 laps and let the teams figure it out period.  God forbid the teams and driver might have to think and calculate.  People travel from all over at emense expense just for the Saturday night finals for 30 lap National Championship?  I'm in shock that you guys on this site want less laps because of a fuel stop???  Seriously???  Im going to request that Tony Stewart make Eldora a quarter mile track next year so we can speed the races up.  You guys who want a 30 lap main for a National Championship are wack, period!!!!

Next thing you'll know you'll want a curfew inplace as well....................

I was sceptical about pit stop at first, but Schatz' win from 21st convinced me that 50 laps is good. Gives back rows a chance (& I'm neither a Schatz fan nor a hater, actually wanted someone else to win) Schatz' run made the whole week worthwhile for me
