Alger, WA – Despite missing the first two races of 2013, Colton Heath and the LAW Motorsports team find themselves solidly in the mix for the 2013 360 division championship at Skagit Speedway following his third straight win in weekly competition this past Saturday night. Heath, from Marysville, WA is looking for his first point’s title in a full size sprint car after debuting in a Sportsman Sprint in 2005.
Saturday night’s feature went exactly to plan for Colton. After starting outside row two, Heath used a solid start to propel him to third early, then used an early race restart to move to second. With the right rear of his Premier Auto Works sponsored, Shark powered #33 Triple X right on the cushion, Heath pulled even with race leader Brock Lemley in turn three, trailed only by a little at the line at the completion of the eighth lap, and secured the point coming off the high groove in turn two on lap nine. With a long green flag run ahead of him, Heath lapped half of the 18 car field before coming home with the big trophy, his third straight win in weekly competition at Skagit.
“We’ve been helped out with the quality and size of the field that Skagit has had this year”, said Colton. “Missing the first two nights was rough, but it was worth it to get a really good running Shark engine to go under this car. With the big fields, and quality of the guys in the field, we’ve had a chance to really race and pick up passing points, which is huge in the scoring. And with the good cars, it means we’ve been able to race aggressive but clean, knowing they won’t clear us out or vice versa. I’m lucky that I’ve got my Triple X chassis that I have a lot of confidence in at the moment, and car owners who provide me with fresh tires, shocks, whatever it is I need to be competitive week in and week out.”
Colton sits 68 points out of the lead in the 360 class and has been averaging a gain of roughly 30 per event on the division leader after missing the first two nights of racing. There are 4 events remaining on the Skagit Speedway season, with the next event coming on August 17th.
Colton Heath would like to thank LAW Motorsports for all their support in fielding a car for 2013 as well as Premier Auto Works, Scrap it-Stow it, Mt Baker Landscaping, Shark and Triple X.
