2004 Catus Classic, Manzy...Quotes Steve Kinser
“This car’s been running good, and Scott (Gerkin) and the whole team’s been working real hard. We’ve got two teams out here on the road now, and everyone’s just done a tremendous job. We’re off to a good start, and that’s what you want to have, but there’s still a long way to go, and it takes two or three months to really find out who’s gonna be fast out here. I grew up dreaming of racing, and watching my dad race, and he was just a master when it came to traffic. I carried a helmet bag around for a while after I graduated high school, but I could never come up with anything to drive, and finally my dad and Jerry Shields let me get in one of their back-up cars, and it just took off from there. I always thought I’d get to be a weekend racer, and thought I’d have to lay blocks for a living. I just have to thank my family for putting up with me being on the road all the time to try to make a living. I’ll tell you one thing, winning never gets old!”
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

The fact is no one will ever fill Steve and Sammy's seat when they retire. Just like no one will ever fill the void in NASCAR when Sr. died.
The thing is WoO, the All Stars, etc. should be more worried about getting the ever sky rocketing costs under control to field a sprint car be it on the national level or local level or they won't have to worry about cars to have a series.
Just look at the tracks that have closed in the last ten years or so and the drivers and teams who have shut the doors because of the costs to run a competitive team.
Dirt track racing in general is in serious trouble whether you want to believe it or not....

And I thought I was the only one who believed this.
I LEARNED ESP FROM MY MOM
"PUT YOUR SWEATER ON: DON'T YOU THINK I KNOW WHEN
YOU'RE COLD?"

10-4 on the rocketing costs! I heard talk at Knoxville about 410 engines reaching the $80K mark! Holy Crap. What happen to 40K? (which is still very high). Has time slipped by me that much or has the costs actually risen that fast?? Or is the 80K a bullshit number that somebody just made up?
