IMO, the answer is no.   When he retires, he will be like everyone else close to retirement and will be watching his finances.   I don't know if the sponsors will be there for Kraig if Steve is not racing.

I would say that ride will be there for Kraig as long as Kraig needs it to be. Meaning if Kraig doesn't have another full-time ride. I know I've heard some say that when Steve retires Kraig will get the other TSR ride, but I'm abit more quesitonable about that since Kraig already had that ride once and obviously the results weren't as good as Tony wanted. I could easily be wrong on that as well but its just my gut feeling I guess at this point.

They shouldn't be much more than that currently.....weekly shows are usually better than the WoO shows I've seen the last 5 years or so....

Just my $.02 but I would be very surprised if Steve runs next year based on how he has run this year.  The last quarter of 2012 and this year have been the worst of his career.  While a farewell tour would be nice, I can't begin to imagine all the people trying to get autographs etc. one last time.  They would clean up on t-shirt and merch sales but he'd have carpal tunnel before the year was over.  Don't know if he has the patience for that.  I'm a Steve fan and would be one of those people in line.

Kraig doesn't seem like he wants it that much to be out on the road all the time.  And yes, I've traveled extensively for work and know that it sucks.  I didn't have to work nearly as hard as these guys do and I thought it sucked.

A few years back people were saying that when Steve & Sammy would retire the WOO would pick up 10 cars or better.

It kind of seems that they already have.  Where are the other cars?

That won't happen purely from a financial aspect.  The WoO tour is designed to have just a handful 10-12 full time cars.  The WoO relies on the locals to take the $800 to finish at the back and fill out the field. If Steve retires, there probably would be a team that steps up, but there will never be more than 10-12 full time cars.

Think about it. Steve might be more afraid of retiring than he ever was in a Sprinter.

I could really give 2 craps less on wether they do or not & if they do or don't pick up any cars, I was just stating what some were saying a few years ago.

Anymore I'd rather go watch the local weekend warrior just like I did last night & will do tonight.

Steve lead the points for over half of last season then he struggled the rest of the year. I think it had to be engine issues. He isnt gonna lose his ability overnight. If they can get that engine runnin (if thats the problem) and start qualifying better and finish the season on a high note I believe he will definately be back for another season, at least I hope so. The WOO without Sammy and especially Steve could lose it's appeal to fans. Schatz just don't have that name to attract the fans these days. I could be wrong though.

i relly like the idea of smoke trying to make the change.  the only difference between him and freddy is about a couple hundred million, that makes a huge difference imo!
