What an amazing amount of progress DD made throughout the week. Ended up coming home with the Rookie of the Nationals handily over some pretty solid drivers and proving that he can adapt to race tracks outside of Posse land...

No kidding. Guy couldn't get out of the 360s way last week and by the end of Saturday he was racing very well with some guys who know the joint well. Hope he comes back. Could see him making the A next year. Unlike others who have come out once or twice and haven't returned. A lof of respect for Smith, Hodnett, DeWease, and Rahmer who tow out almost every year. Hope more PA guys start coming every year. Wish Rahmer had made one more showing. I remember those guys coming out and being backmarkers the first few years...well except Smith, he was good from year 1. But they kept coming and getting better and better. Maybe there is a way to make it more enticing. Some sort of regional challenge race, or regional champion based on points or something. I would like the World Challenge to turn into a Champions Race with Champions of all touring series, local tracks, and large events world wide invited. To me that would be more deserving of a 25th spot than rewarding guys cause they competed in multiple countries.

Dietrich, Brent Marks and Logan Schuchart all plan on running Knoxville every year from here on out. Those 3 seem to be the best youngins' we have out here. Which is good for the Posse cheerleaders because Rahmer's done and Stevie, Lance and Greg aren't getting any younger...

Nationals really needs to get some of these F.A.S.T guys from Attica and Fremont out there. DJ Foos, Chris Andrews, Bryan Sebetto, Travis Philo, Phil Gressman, Brian Lay, Brandon Martin, Craig Mintz, Byron Reed, Paige Polyak, Caleb Griffith, etc. are all incredible drivers they just lack the $$$ and horsepower needed to be competitive at a big half mile. How many of those drivers have made it to Nationals? I know Byron has and has done extremely well and Sebetto tried last year and struggled. Hell, most of those drivers can't even find the funding to make it to the Kings Royal in their home state. But, go to Attica and you'll be impressed with the outstanding amount of depth they have in their all local field.

Schuchart looked better also. I know he ran last year, but also got better. Heck 3 years ago Cap Henry was TERRIBLE. Think it would serve those guys well to do what DD did and come out for the weekend before also. I know with points races back home and expenses it's not easy. Does Jacob Allen have a future. He looked rough. Don't know if he's better out east.

Jacob Allen has 2 career top 10's in a 410 if that answers your question. And both came during middle of the week shows not at Lincoln, Williams Grove or Port Royal. Bobby Allen tows around the 1a and 1s together to get them track time and run a similar schedule he did. Jacob gets better every time he hits the track and his progress this year is remarkable. We'll see a couple years down the road what his future holds. Still, Jacob struggles to make a 28 car field at Williams Grove and Lincoln on a local weekend so in comparison he wasn't that bad at all.

He had a top 5 a week or so ago over there. I talked to Jacob at Waynesfield & he told me then he only had about 35 races in a 410.

Correct. He had a great run at Path Valley. He failed to qualify for any of the Ohio Speedweek shows he tried to make and was 40th in PA Speedweek points and only 13 or so cars ran all of them. Expectations have to be managed. His progress is unbelievable though.

Maybe if at the FAST shows there was a way to divert funds from the show to a separate fund. Maybe like $100 from each show goes into a fund? That way after maybe 10-12 shows someone can get $1000 or $1200 to tow to the Nationals.

I don't think that tells the whole story, pretty sure there are some 358 engines that make more power than the 410 in the 1A, and that's not an exxageration at all. Some nights we swear he has the 358 in it's so far off the pace down the straights. He's still very young with very little experience, but they couldn't be running on anymore of a shoestring budget so at this point I think it's a bit hard to judge the future of the driver. The good thing is he's getting a lot of laps with a lot of fast cars, that should pay off if he can get some better equipment down the road.

At the beginning of the season Jacob was actually running a 358 against the 410's. At the Hall of Fame, Logan said "Jacob has been doing much better since he's gotten a good hitting 410 under him" for what it's worth.

He's getting better each week. There was a few weeks he finished ahead of Shuchart. I am also pretty sure this is only his second full season in a sprint car 358 or 410. They hve a great mentor in Bobby who is getting them on the road as much as their budget allows. This will help them out big time when they do decide to run Full Outlaw tour.

Brent Marks may have had a better finish also if he hadn't destoryed the car they were planning on taking to Knoxville while shaking it down the Saturday before he left up at Port Royal during the dream race. The Kid is Fast week in and week out. Drives clean and don't tear up a lot of equipment. He is also my pick when Rahmer retires. I've been watching him since he moved from the micros to the 410. He has a bunch of wins and a few championshis in his micro before making the jump straight into the seat of the 410. Seems like a lot of the youngsters moving up from the micro division into 358's and 410's here in PA do pretty well right out of the box. There are a few in the 358 division that show promise, and if they move up to the 410's could be a threat. With some of the Vets retireing at the end of the season, it's pretty refreshing to know there is plenty of young talent in the lower ranks to fill the void.

Bobby also has the boys working on setting up the car and not just being a helmet bag carrier. That will help them A TON down the road.

Jacob is a 410 rookie. All things considerd I think he's doing pretty well. I was expecting Logan to have a breakout year but so far he's looked slower than last year. I sometimes wonder if they aren't stretching their budget a little too far with all the travelling.

I think it is great that the young Allen grandsons came out and will be coming back..... Good luck to them in Pennsylvania or anywhere else they run..... Bobby Allen was a great Hall of Fame driver and is a great guy..... Wish they could pick up a good sponsor or car owners so they can follow in his footsteps....
In fact good luck to all of the Pennsylvania guys, takes a lot of effort and money to tow all the way out here and race on a track they only get to see once a year.... I for one want to see the best drivers at the Nationals wherever they come from...
If you have ever talked to Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease or Fred Raymer, you know they are really cool guys and world class sprint car drivers! I hope to get to go to Williams Grove one of these days and see them on their own turf.....

One other thing most get wrong is Jacob is Bobby's son not Grandson. Logan Schuchart is Bobby's Grandson and Jacobs nephew. They are pretty close in age.

I agree with SLINK on Brent Marks
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH
