With the eyes of the Sprint Car world focused on a tiny town in the center of Iowa this week, the rest of the world, especially beyond the USA continues to race. The race fans of the United Kingdom have been treated to quite the spectacle of their own in 2013, and Duncan Panton has led the stars of the UK Sprint Car Series to wins all over Europe including the UK Sprint Car Dirt Series Championship this past weekend.

Panton is now a 5x race winner in 2013, having taken his Pantech Auto Technicians #69 Triple X to a victory this past Saturday at the Coventry Dirt Oval at Brandon Stadium in the United Kingdom. The UK Sprint Car Series runs a format very similar to how Australia’s weekly racing runs – multiple series of heat races for the drivers set points for the A Main lineup which runs with no invert, high point to low point. Panton won the first heat, ran second in heat two and third in heat three to secure the pole position for the feature. Come main event time, he ran away and hid from the field, easily leading his competitors out of the bottom of turn two and streaking away to claim his third championship of the season and fifth overall win. In June, Panton added the English Championship and Long Track Championship to his resume’ in a pavement race at Lydden Hill in Cantebury. Panton also claims another win in Great Britain at Warneton Speedway and a win in Belgium on pavement early in the year.

“I’m really quite happy, the car is going real well at the moment and we are on top of our game. We managed a total of 11 straight wins in the Triple X car, counting heat races, until this Saturday. But we still won the feature, which is what matters. Ever since I got this car from Kears Speed Shop, it’s been so hooked up, ever since I grabbed it. My only wish is that it was a std height car as opposed to the 2” configuration, as I’m only 5’7” tall and when you see pictures of me in the driver’s compartment, it looks like I’m 12 years old sitting on a stack of phone books!” said Duncan via email.

Panton races courtesy his business, Pantech Auto Technicians, as well as associate sponsors Aspect Car Sales, Kears Speed Shop and American Racer Tires.
