Was thinking about going to Calistoga this year for the Vermeil race.  Was wondering if there any good hotel deals for the event.  I checked the race headquarters hotel and it was full on their website.  Are any rooms being held for racers/fans? Any hotels you guys would suggest for this race (within a reasonable amount)  I know its an expensive area.  Should be an awesome race with $20k offered to the midget winners.

Thanks

We book a year in advance every year.  It is really tuff to find a place in Calistoga as it is popular without the races, and it's Labor Day weekend so...most places require a three day stay.  None are reasonable in town, especially on summer holiday weekends.  Santa Rosa is closest and then probably Napa.  Try Booking.com or Hotels.com.  Good luck.  It is a weekend NOT to be missed.

Nothin gona be cheap due to it being Labor Day w/e in the Wine Country ($$$$)!!..or even close to the Race Track!!...unless you get lucky to find a cancellation!!.. mite try Santa Rosa area or up no.of track at a Casino!!...Run down, small rms Motel 6 in Napa wants $132.00 a nite where we stayed last yr that was alot cheaper then!!...mite consider a camper or sleepin bags at track that has free showers in some rest rooms avail...parking is/has been $5.00 a day!!....could've mabe drawn some Nat'l guys w/ added purse now avail., if not for USAC Nat'l sched conflicting??......stil an event to see,n' not to miss every yr...so far for us!!........

Twin Pines website looks pretty good.  Rooms are available for 120 a night.

Also the National Midgets are not running that weekend.  KWS just cancelled their show for the same weekend at Rattlesnake(?) Raceway in Nevada...could mean a few more cars.

I recommend Santa Rosa over Napa. Santa Rosa is closer to the track and cheaper than Napa. You might also try the L&M Motel in Healdsburg. It's an older place, but clean, well-managed and reasonably priced (for the wine country).

The drive from the track to Twin Pines is treacherous.

The drive to and from the Twin Pines is less treascherous, less time, and less miles than Santa Rosa
