It's a good thing Stewart is his own owner.  Any other "Cup" owner would be screaming about his non-Cup efforts, especially in sprint cars!

Imagine being Travis Pastrana's car owner...he still competes in X-Games, rally car racing, and all extreme & adrenaline sports while racing full-time in the Nationwide series!

I'm all for these guys racing as often as possible, and in various types of cars & events.  It keeps them sharp and hones their skills.

Tony is just a racer.  Period.  Old school throwback like a Foyt, Unser, Andretti, etc.  Look how good he is behind the wheel of anything he climbs into.

Kasey Kahne is another example of someone that is willing to step outside the comfort of his cozy office and race go-karts, Outlaw sprint cars, midgets, etc.

Kyle Larson.  Nuff said.

I think the restrictive contracts, like the one that I'm sure Jeff Gordon has signed all these years, not only hurt the driver over time...but also hurt the sport as well.

Plus, as a fan, I want to be able to watch my heroes more than just for a few hours on Sunday (okay, more like a few minutes during my nap...LOL)

Doug,

It's refreshing that you mentioned a nap.  I find that the older I get the more accomplilshed I am at dozing off during any form of racing on television.  Of course that also applies to NFL football.
